Buffalo 9 – COLUMBUS 4… Tage Thompson scored four of his five goals in the first period and the Sabres went on to thrash the Blue Jackets. Thompson also had an assist. Alex Tuch had a goal and three assists.
Washington 4 – PHILADELPHIA 1… Dylan Strome netted a go-ahead goal midway through the third period and Alex Ovechkin added two empty-netters to push the Capitals past the Flyers. Goalie Charlie Lindgren made 29 saves.
CALGARY 5 – Minnesota 3… Rasmus Andersson found the net with a go-ahead goal with 4:03 remaining and Tyler Toffoli added an empty-netter in the Flames’ win over the Wild. Toffoli also had a power-play goal in the second period.
Boston 4 – COLORADO 0… Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark stopped all 23 shots in shutting out the Avalanche. Taylor Hall scored two goals and assisted on another.
EDMONTON 8 – Arizona 2… Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins netted two goals apiece and the Oilers skated past the Coyotes. NcDavid also set up two goals. Leon Draisaitl, Klim Kostin and Derek Ryan each had a goal and an assist.
N.Y. Rangers 5 – VEGAS 1… The Rangers scored four unanswered goals in the third period to put away the Golden Knights. Three of the goals came over a 1:54 span. Mika Zibanejad scored goal goals and had an assist during the rally. Artemi Panarin set up three goals.
Vancouver 6 – SAN JOSE 5 (OT)… Elias Pettersson lit the lamp at 4:25 of overtime to give the Canucks a hard-fought win over the Sharks. Andrei Kuzmenko scored a tying two with 3:53 left in regulation. Dakota Joshua netted two first-period goals.
