NATIONAL LEAGUE
Philadelphia 11 – CINCINNATI 4… The Phillies used an 18-hit attack to wallop the Reds. Rhys Hoskins homered twice and knocked in five runs. Garrett Stubbs cracked a three-run homer. Darick Hall and Nick Castellanos hit back-to-back solo homers. Kyle Gibson allowed three runs on six hits and struck out 11 over six innings.
MIAMI 4 – San Diego 3… Peyton Burdick doubled home a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Marlins hung on to edge the Padres. Nick Fortes went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers.
Chi. Cubs 7 – WASHINGTON 5 (11 innings)… The Cubs recovered to outlast the Nationals after blowing a four-run lead. Patrick Wisdom doubled home a tie-breaking run in the top of the 11th inning and scored on Suzuki’s single. Franmil Reyes homered with the bases empty. Nico Hoerner had three hits, including an RBI double.
ATLANTA 5 – N.Y. Mets 0… Charlie Morton (6-5) pitched three-hit ball and fanned 12 over 6-2/3 innings and three Braves relievers completed the shutout of the Mets. Matt Olson homered with a runner aboard and singled home a run. Robbie Grossman also went deep.
ST. LOUIS 5 – Colorado 4… Tyler O’Neil was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to force home with the winning run as the Cardinals squeezed past the Rockies. Paul Goldschmidt homered with a runner aboard in the fifth and lifted a game-tying sacrifice fly in the seventh.
MILWAUKEE 5 – L.A. Dodgers 4 (11 innings)… Victor Caratini’s two-run single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Brewers a walkoff win over the Dodgers. Willy Adames stake Milwaukee to an early lead with a two-run homer in the first. Christian Yelich added a solo shot in the fifth.
SAN FRANCISCO 2 – Arizona 1… Brandon Crawford’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the Giants past the Diamondbacks. San Francisco starter Jakob Junis and his counterpart Merrill Kelly each allowed just four hits over the first seven innings but neither got a decision.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Tampa Bay 3 – N.Y. YANKEES 1… Randy Arozarena belted a three-run homer in the top of the first inning and the Rays never looked back in their win over the Yankees. Jeffrey Springs (5-3) surrendered a run on two hits over five innings.
Baltimore 4 – TORONTO 2… Cedrick Mullins and Adley Rutschman tied the game with back-to-back solo homers in the top of the fifth inning and the Orioles got RBI singles from Ramon Urías and Ryan McKenna in the sixth to get past the Blue Jays. Dean Kremer (5-4) gave up two runs on seven hits over seven innings.
Detroit 4 – CLEVELAND 3… Kerry Carpenter homered with a runner aboard to cap a three-run top of the first inning and Harold Castro’s RBI double in the third proved to be the difference as the Tigers edged the Guardians. Castro’s infield single scored the game’s first run. Garrett Hill (3-3) allowed a run on four hits over six innings.
MINNESOTA 9 – Kansas City 0… Sonny Gray (7-3) limited the Royals to three hits and struck out 10 over six scoreless innings and got help from three relievers in the blanking of the Royals. Gio Urshela went 4-for-5 with a pair of run-scoring singles. Nick Gordon had a couple of hits and drove in two runs. Luis Arraez and Jose Miranda both had three hits and an RBI.
Oakland 5 – TEXAS 1… J.P. Sears (4-0) pitched four-hit ball over five scoreless innings and the Athletics cruised past the Rangers. Elvis Andrus homered with a runner aboard. Sean Murphy had a couple of hits, including a solo homer, and scored twice.
CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Houston 3… Yoan Moncada singled home Adam Engel with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the eighth inning and the White Sox made it stand in edging the Astros. Gavin Sheets tied the game with a two-run double in the seventh.
Seattle 8 – L.A. ANGELS 2… The Mariners used a three-run top of the sixth inning to overcome an early two-run deficit and added five more runs in the ninth to put away the Angels. Julio Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer. Adam Frazier legged out a two-run triple. Ty France singled home two runs. Robbie Ray (9-8) gave up two runs on six hits and fanned 10 over six innings.
INTERLEAGUE
Boston 5 – PITTSBURGH 3… The Red Sox built a 5-0 lead after their first two at-bats and coasted past the Pirates. Alex Verdugo’s run-scoring single sparked a four-run top of the first inning. Nick Pivetta (9-9) allowed just one hit over seven scoreless innings.
