NATIONAL LEAGUE
ATLANTA 1 – Arizona 0… Austin Riley’s double in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Matt Olson with the game’s only run as the Braves squeaked out a win over the Diamondbacks. The game featured a duel between Atlanta starter Max Fried and his counterpart Merrill Kelly, but neither got a decision.

Philadelphia 8 – PITTSBURGH 2… Nick Castellanos went 4-for-5 with a pair of run-scoring singles and the Phillies cruised past the Pirates. Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm hit solo homers. Aaron Nola (7-8) allowed a run on six hits over six innings.

St. Louis 5 – WASHINGTON 0… Andre Pallante (4-4) limited the Nationals to five hits over eight innings and Cardinals reliever Ryan Helsley came on to preserve the shutout. Corey Dickerson went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer. Paul DeJong also went deep.

N.Y. Mets 9 – MIAMI 3… The Mets used a 19-hit attack to thrash the Marlins. Mark Canha went 3-for-5 with a pair of run-scoring singles. Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil each had three hits and knocked in a run.

L.A. Dodgers 7 – COLORADO 3… James Outman hit a two-run homer and doubled home a run in his major league debut and the Dodgers rolled past the Rockies. Cody Bellinger’s double in the top of the fourth inning brought home the tying and go-ahead runs.

SAN FRANCISCO 4 – Chi. Cubs 0… Carlos Rodón (9-6) pitched two-hit ball and struck out 10 over seven innings and gave way to two relievers in the Giants’ shutout of the Cubs. Jason Vosler singled home two runs and Austin Wynns added a two-run double as San Francisco scored all four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
TORONTO 4 – Detroit 1… Jose Berrios (8-4) allowed just a run on three hits over seven innings and the Blue Jays breezed past the Tigers. Matt Chapman went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. Vladimir Guerrero doubled home a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored on Bo Bichette’s double.

Kansas City 8 – N.Y. YANKEES 6… Salvador Perez’s go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning powered the Royals past the Yankees. Hunter Dozier homered to lead off the eighth. Nick Pratto’s two-run single sparked a four-run fifth.

Cleveland 5 – TAMPA BAY 3… Austin Hedges came through with a tie-breaking two-run single in the top of the fifth inning and Guardians held on to down the Rays. Myles Straw singled home the game’s first two runs in the second.

CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Oakland 1… The White Sox pulled past the Athletics after spotting them an early lead. José Abreu hit a game-tying homer in the second. Andrés Jiménez added a solo shot in the seventh. Dylan Cease (11-4) gave up just a run on four hits over six innings.

HOUSTON 5 – Seattle 3 (10 innings)… Yordan Alvarez singled home Mauricio Dubón with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Astros outlasted the Mariners. Jose Altuve stole home and Kyle Tucker singled home a run in the first for Houston.

Texas 5 – L.A. ANGELS 2… Ezequiel Duran cracked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning and the Rangers made it stand in their win over the Angels. Three Texas pitchers held L.A. scoreless after their first two at-bats.

INTERLEAGUE
BOSTON 7 – Milwaukee 2… Xavier Bogaert’s two-run double sparked a five-run bottom of the fifth inning that carried the Red Sox past the Brewers. J.D. Martinez, Christian Vázquez and Alex Verdugo added run-scoring doubles during the uprising. Josh Winckowski (4-5) allowed two runs on seven hits over five innings.

CINCINNATI 3 – Baltimore 2… Brandon Drury connected for a tie-breaking homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Reds hung on to edge the Orioles. Joey Votto had a couple of hits, including an RBI single to break a scoreless tie in the sixth.

SAN DIEGO 3 – Minnesota 2… Run-scoring singles by Jake Cronenworth and Luke Voit in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Padres the lead for good in their win over the Twins. Jurickson Profar opened the scoring with a  third-inning homer. Sean Manaea (6-5) held Minnesota to two runs on four hits over six innings.
