NATIONAL LEAGUE
MIAMI 3 – N.Y. Mets 2… Nick Fortes’ two-out solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Marlins a walkoff win over the Mets. Miguel Rojas slugged a game-tying homer in the third for Miami.
Chi. Cubs 6 – ST. LOUIS 5 (10 innings)… The Cubs came from five runs down after three innings to outlast the Cardinals. Willson Contreras singled home two runs to cap a five-run top of the fourth inning and added a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 10th. Rafael Ortega stroked a two-run double for Chicago.
Cincinnati 10 – SAN FRANCISCO 3… The Reds erupted to score seven runs in the top of the third inning and never looked back in their romp over the Giants. Seven different players drove in runs for Cincinnati. Aramis Garcia hit a pair of run-scoring singles. Albert Almora, Jr., added a two-run single.
Philadelphia 8 – SAN DIEGO 5… Kyle Schwarber belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning and the Phillies scored twice more to put away the Padres. Schwarber also doubled home a run in the second. Five Philadelphia relievers held San Diego scoreless on one hit over 6-1/3 innings.
L.A. Dodgers 5 – ATLANTA 3 (11 innings)… Chris Taylor doubled home Cody Bellinger with a go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning and scored on Trea Turner’s single as the Dodgers outlasted the Braves. Both teams scored single runs in the 10th. Trayce Thompson put L.A. on the board with a two-run single in the ninth.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 6 – Houston 3 (10 innings)… The Yankees came from three runs down after six innings to power their way past the Astros. Aaron Judge connected for a walkoff three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning. Giancarlo Stanton put New York on the board with a solo homer in the top of the seventh and DJ LeMahieu added a two-run shot in the eighth.
Boston 8 – CLEVELAND 3… The Red Sox used a 15-hit attack to pound the Guardians. J.D. Martinez went 3-for-5 and knocked in two runs. Trevor Story produced a two-run single. Rafael Devers had three hits and an RBI. Rich Hill (4-4) allowed a run on five hits over six innings.
CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Baltimore 3… Dylan Cease gave up just a run on four hits and struck out 13 over seven innings as the White Sox held off for the Orioles. Gavin Sheets opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. Jose Abreu went 2-for-3 and scored twice.
Oakland 5 – KANSAS CITY 3… Nick Allen delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to help push the Athletics past the Royals. Seth Brown and Cristian Pache each had a couple of hits and an RBI.
L.A. ANGELS 2 – Seattle 1… Luis Rengifo connected for a game-tying lead-off homer and David Mackinnon singled home the decisive run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Angels squeezed past the Mariners in a contest that featured a first-inning brawl. Jose Suarez (1-2) allowed just a run on five hits over six innings in relief of L.A. starter Andrew Wantz, who was among six players and both managers ejected.
INTERLEAGUE
TAMPA BAY 4 – Pittsburgh 2… Ji-Man Choi’s two-run double sparked a three-run bottom of the seventh inning that carried the Rays past the Pirates. Isaac Paredes went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Shane McClanahan (8-3) allowed a run on four hits and fanned 10 over seven innings.
MINNESOTA 6 – Colorado 3… Max Kepler drove in two runs with a single and a double, Byron Buxton went 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, and the Twins doubled up on the Rockies. Luis Arraez singled twice and scored a run.
MILWAUKEE 10 – Toronto 3… Rowdy Tellez blasted a pair of two-run homers in leading the Brewers past the Blue Jays. Willy Adames had three hits, including a run-scoring single, and scored twice.
Washington 6 – TEXAS 4… The Nationals scored three runs in each of their first two at-bats and hung on to top the Rangers. Nelson Cruz drove in three runs with a pair of singles. Josh Bell went 3-for-5 with an RBI double.
ARIZONA 11 – Detroit 7… Pavin Smith singled home a tie-breaking run and Daulton Varsho belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Diamondbacks slugged their way past the Tigers. Smith also hit a tie-breaking two-run single in the fourth and was 4-for-5 on the day.
