NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. METS 6 – Miami 0… David Peterson (4-1) scattered six hits over 5-1/3 innings and three relievers completed the Mets’ blanking of the Marlins. Eduardo Escobar lifted a sacrifice fly and singled home two runs for New York.
PITTSBURGH 12 – Chi. Cubs 1… Oneil Cruz stroked a two-run double and singled home a run to lead the Pirates in their throttling of the Cubs. Daniel Vogelbach, Bligh Madris and Hoy Park drove in two runs apiece. JT Brubaker pitched five-hit ball over six scoreless innings on his way to winning for the first time after seven losses this season.
ATLANTA 2 – San Francisco 1… Orlando Arcia singled homed pinch-runner Phil Gosselin in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Braves a walkoff win over the Giants. Travis d’Arnaud opened the scoring with a second-inning homer. The game featured a duel between Atlanta starter Max Fried and his counterpart Logan Webb, but neither got a decision.
MILWAUKEE 2 – St. Louis 0… Corbin Burnes (5-4) limited the Cardinals to two hits and struck out 10 over seven innings before two Brewers relievers completed the shutout. Tyrone Taylor’s two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning off tough-luck loser Miles Mikolas (5-5) accounted for the game’s only scoring.
SAN DIEGO 4 – Arizona 1… Yu Darvish (7-3) surrendered just a run on four hits in a solid seven-inning effort and the Padres eased past the Diamondbacks. Jake Cronenworth smacked a game-tying solo homer in the bottom of the first inning and Ha-Seong Kim came put San Diego ahead for good with a two-run single in the second. Trent Grisham capped the scoring with a fifth-inning homer.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BOSTON 5 – Detroit 2… Franchy Cordero went 3-for-4 with a two-run single as the Red Sox cruised past the Tigers. Josh Winckowski (2-1) gave up two runs on seven hits over 6-2/3 innings.
N.Y. Yankees 4 – TAMPA BAY 2… Aaron Hick tripled home Josh Donaldson with a tie-breaking run in the top of the ninth inning and scored on Trevino’s sacrifice fly to push the Yankees past the Rays. Anthony Rizzo homered with the bases empty in the first. New York starter Gerrit Cole took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and fanned 12.
CHI. WHITE SOX 8 – Toronto 7… Josh Harrison’s two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning gave the White Sox the lead for good in their win over the Blue Jays. Luis Robert homered with a runner aboard in the fourth. Andrew Vaughn pounded out four hits, including a solo homer and an RBI double.
Kansas City 6 – L.A. ANGELS 2… The Royals got two-run homers from Andrew Benintendi and Salvador Perez in downing the Angels. Hunter Dozer added a solo blast. Kris Bubic (1-4) allowed two runs on six hits over six innings.
