NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Diego 2 – PHILADELPHIA 0… Yu Darvish (4-1) scattered six hits over seven innings and two relievers completed the Padres’ shutout of the Phillies. Robinson Canó stroked a run-scoring single and Kim lifted a sacrifice fly as San Diego scored both runs in the top of the fourth inning.
N.Y. METS 7 – St. Louis 6 (10 innings)… Pete Alonso’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Mets over the Cardinals. Alonso opened the scoring with a run-scoring single in the first. Jeff McNeil also knocked in three runs for New York.
Arizona 3 – CHI. CUBS 1… Daulton Varsho smacked a leadoff homer as the Diamondbacks scored all three runs in the top of the fourth inning and held off the Cubs. Zac Gallen (3-0) surrendered a run on two hits over five innings.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 9 – N.Y. Yankees 6… Anthony Santander’s three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning powered the Orioles past the Yankees. Robinson Chirinos homered with a runner aboard. Tyler Nevin singled home a run and came around to score during a three-run sixth.
Chi. White Sox 7 – KANSAS CITY 4… The White Sox overcame a pair of three-run deficits to get past the Royals. Luis Robert went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBIs. Tim Anderson had a couple of hits, including a two-run single.
BOSTON 12 – Seattle 6… Trevor Story went 4-for-4 with three home runs and seven RBIs to lead the Red Sox in their pounding of the Mariners. J.D. Martinez also had four hits and scored three runs.
HOUSTON 5 – Texas 1… Aledmys Diaz and Kyle Tucker produced back-to-back RBI singled in the bottom of the first inning to give the Astros the lead for good in their win over the Rangers. Martin Maldonado added a bases-clearing double in the eighth. Framber Valdez (3-1) gave up a run on six hits over seven innings.
INTERLEAGUE
Cincinnati 4 – CLEVELAND 2… The Reds came up with three runs in the top of the eighth inning to scoot past the Guardians. Tyler Naquin had a couple of hits, including a solo homer. Four Cincinnati pitchers combined on a three-hitter.
