MLB Scores Monday 5-9

NATIONAL LEAGUE
PITTSBURGH 5 – L.A. DODGERS 1… Jose Quintana (1-1) pitched four-hit ball over six scoreless innings for his first win since 2019 and the Pirates also ended a 16-game losing streak against the Dodgers dating to 2018. The loss was L.A.’s first in seven games. Michael Perez and Jack Suwinski homered for Pittsburgh.

CINCINNATI 10 – Milwaukee 5… Brandon Drury and Kyle Farmer each belted three-run homers as the Reds doubled up on the Brewers. Colin Moran also went deep. Cincinnati has won two straight for the first time this season.

Chi. Cubs 6 – SAN DIEGO 0… Kyle Hendricks (2-3) limited the Padres to three hits over 8-2/3 innings and reliever Scott Effross came on to get the final out in the Cubs’ blanking of the Padres. Ian Happ drove in two runs with a single and a double.

ARIZONA 4 – Miami 3… Ketel Marte hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Diamondbacks made it stand in their win over the Marlins. Daulton Varsho had a couple of hits and an RBI. Arizona has won seven of eight.

SAN FRANCISCO 8 – Colorado 5… Mauricio Dubón had three hits, including a homer, and knocked in three runs as the Giants beat the Rockies for the eighth straight time. Carlos Rodón (4-1) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out 12 over six innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 6 – Kansas City 1… The Orioles came alive to score all six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to bury the Royals. Ryan Mountcastle’s two-run single capped the uprising. Tyler Wells (1-2) held Kansas City to a run on five hits over six innings.

N.Y. YANKEES 1 – Texas 0… Anthony Rizzo doubled home with the game’s only run in the bottom half the eighth inning as the Yankees clipped the Rangers. Nestor Cortes took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and struck out 11 but didn’t get a decision.

Oakland 2 – DETROIT 0… Paul Blackburn pitched four-hit ball over 6-2/3 innings and two relievers did the rest as the Athletics blanked the Tigers to snap a nine-game losing streak. Tony Kemp hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning and Chad Pinder added an RBI single in the fourth.

Cleveland 12 – CHI. WHITE SOX 9 (11 innings)… The Guardians came from six runs down in the top of the ninth inning to outlast the White Sox. Josh Naylor unloaded a grand slam to tie the game with two outs in the ninth and added a three-run blast in the 11th. Naylor doubled home a run in the eighth and finished with eight RBIs. Andrés Giménez also homered for Cleveland.

L.A. ANGELS 11 – Tampa Bay 3… Shohei Ohtani hit a pair of homers, including a grand slam, to lead the Angels in their pounding of the Rays. Mike Trout and Jared Walsh also went deep and drove in three runs each.

INTERLEAGUE
Philadelphia 9 – SEATTLE 0… Ranger Suárez (3-1) allowed four hits over six innings and got help from relievers in the Phillies’ blanking of the Mariners. Jean Segura and Rhys Hoskins hit back-to-back homers in the top of the second inning. Nick Castellanos finished with three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI.
