NATIONAL LEAGUE
WASHINGTON 6 – Arizona 1… Victor Robles doubled home a tying run in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored as the Nationals downed the Diamondbacks in the opener of a doubleheader. Right-hander Josiah Gray (2-1) allowed just a run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings.

WASHINGTON 1 – Arizona 0…  César Hernández doubled home Victor Robles with the game’s only run in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Nationals completed a sweep of the twinbill. Joan Adon (1-2) gave up three hits over 6-1/3 innings on the way to his first major league win.

N.Y. METS 5 – San Francisco 4 (10 innings)… Francisco Lindor singled home Ben Nimmo with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Mets outlasted the Giants in the opener of a doubleheader. Jeff McNeill lined a two-run double and scored in the fifth.

N.Y. METS 3 – San Francisco 1… Max Scherzer took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and the Mets held off the Giants to finish off a sweep of the twinbill. Eduardo Escobar doubled home two runs and scored on Dominic Smith’s single as New York did all its scoring in the bottom of the third inning.

St. Louis 5 – MIAMI 1… Adam Wainwright (2-1) held the Marlins to a run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings and the Cardinals cruised to the win. Tommy Edman tripled, singled and drove in two runs. Albert Pujols had two hits and scored twice.

MILWAUKEE 5 – Pittsburgh 2… Corbin Burnes (1-0) held the Pirates to two runs on hits over seven innings and struck out 10 as the Brewers topped the Cubs. Rowdy Velez hit a two-run homer and Kolten Wong stroked a two-run double during a four-run bottom of the second inning.

COLORADO 6 – Philadelphia 5… C.J. Cron hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Rockies hung on to edge the Phillies. Cron also lifted a sacrifice fly to score Colorado’s first run in the fourth.

SAN DIEGO 6 – Cincinnati 2… Manny Machado homered with a runner aboard and Eric Hosmer added a pair of RBIs as the Padres dealt the Reds their eighth straight loss. Joe Musgrove (2-0) limited Cincinnati to two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Atlanta 3 – L.A. DODGERS 1… Max Fried (1-1) pitched two-hit ball over seven shutout innings and the Braves clipped the Dodgers. Travis D’Arnaud smacked a solo homer.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. Yankees 4 – DETROIT 2… Three relievers held the Tigers scoreless over the final 7-1/3 innings and the Yankees pulled out the win on a chilly night in Detroit. Aaron Hicks drove in a run and scored twice.

BOSTON 2 – Toronto 1… Connor Wong’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning scored with the decisive run in the Rex Sox’ win over the Blue Jays. Kiké Hernández and Trevor Story had back-to-back doubles to put Boston on the board in the third.

L.A. ANGELS 7 – Houston 2… The Angels used a five-run bottom of the fifth inning to put away the Astros. Kurt Suzuki and Brandon Marsh drove in two runs each. Jo Adell had three hits and an RBI

KANSAS CITY 4 – Minnesota 3… Salvador Perez connected for a pair of homers and Hunter Dozier also went deep to power the Royals past the Twins. Nicky Lopez went 2-for-3 with a bases-loaded walk.

OAKLAND 2 – Baltimore 1… Seth Brown’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning provided all the offense the Athletics needed in their win over the Orioles. Four Oakland relievers nailed down the victory after starter Cole Irvin went the first five innings.

SEATTLE 6 – Texas 2… Robbie Ray (2-1) held the Rangers to two runs on four hits over six innings and the Mariners handled the Rangers. Eugenio Suárez belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Chi. White Sox – CLEVELAND (ppd)… Bad weather in Cleveland forced postponement of last night’s White Sox-Indians game. It has been rescheduled as part of a traditional doubleheader today.

INTERLEAGUE
Tampa Bay 6 – CHI. CUBS 5… The Rays recovered to beat the Cubs after blowing a four-run lead. Wander Franco went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer. Brandon Low had a couple of hits and knocked in a run.
