NATIONAL LEAGUE
Washington 3 – ATLANTA 1… Josh Bell and Maikel Franco both had a couple of hits and an RBI and the Nationals topped the Braves. Josiah Gray (1-1) allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings.
PITTSBURGH 6 – Chi. Cubs 2.. Ben Gamel belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and the Pirates went on to beat the Cubs. Kevin Newman letted out a a two-run triple in the third. Ke’Bryan Hayes went 4for-4 and drove in a run.
N.Y. Mets 9 – PHILADELPHIA 6… Pete Alonso drove in five runs with a homer and two doubles to lead the Mets past the Phillies. Brandon Nimmo added a solo homer. Max Scherzer (2-0) allowed one run on five hits over five innings.
SAN FRANCISCO 2 – San Diego 1… Logan Webb (1-0) pitched four-hit ball over eight innings in outdueling Sean Manaea (1-1) as the Giants edged the Padres. Luke Williams provided all the offense San Francisco needed with a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Boston 9 – DETROIT 7… Jackie Bradley drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and the Red Sox outslugged the Tigers. Kiké Hernández with a runner aboard and doubled home a run. Eloy Jiménez and Luis Robert also connected, helping Chicago to its fourth straight win since its dramatic loss at Detroit on opening day. Keuchel pitched five innings of three-run ball in career win No. 100.
Oakland 4 – TAMPA BAY 2… Sean Murphy belted a three-run homer in the top of the third inning and the Athletics held off the Rays. Frankie Montas (1-1) allowed two runs and five hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Toronto 6 – N.Y. YANKEES 4… Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., went 4-for-4 with three homers and four RBIs to power the Blue Jays past the Yankees. George Springer delivered a tie-breaking single in the top of the seventh inning.
CHI. WHITE SOX 6 – Seattle 4… Tim Anderson homered and drove in three runs on a rainy night in Chicago and the White Sox handled the Mariners. Eloy Jiménez and Luis Robert also went deep.
INTERLEAGUE
Cleveland 7 – CINCINNATI 3… José Ramírez homered, doubled and knocked in three runs as the Guardians downed the Reds for their fourth straight win. Owen Miller smacked a pair of solo homers. Oscar Mercado also went deep.
L.A. Dodgers 7 – MINNESOTA 0… Clayton Kershaw pitched seven perfect innings and two Dodgers relievers completed the shutout of the Twins. Kershaw struck out 13 of the 21 batters he faced. Cody Bellinger, Gavin Lux and Austin Barnes hit consecutive homers in the top of the eighth inning for L.A. Max Muncy also went deep. Justin Turner singled home two runs.
ARIZONA 3 – Houston 2 (10 innings)… Ketel Marte’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning scored Seth Beer with the winning run as the Diamondbacks outlasted the Astros. Beer reached base with a game-tying single.
Milwaukee 4 – BALTIMORE 2… Kolten Wong tripled home a tie-breaking run in the top of the ninth inning and scored on Rowdy Tellez’ double as the Brewers got past the Orioles. Milwaukee starter Corbin Burnes threw seven shutout innings but didn’t get a decision.
Kansas City – ST. LOUIS (ppd)… Impending threatening weather in St. Louis forced postponement of yesterday’s Royals-Cardinals game. It has been rescheduled for May 2.
