Esther Ann Kemp, 96 of Kirksville passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at The Bluffs in Columbia, Missouri.
The daughter of WD and Juanita Irene (Robinson) Tungate, she was born December 23, 1925 in Leonard, Missouri. On March 24, 1945 in Alexandria, Louisiana she was united in marriage to James Elmo Kemp.
Ann is survived by her three children, Linda Snyder of Kirksville, MO, Brenda (Jim) McClelland of Columbia, MO and Kim (Maureen) Kemp of Columbia, MO; seven grandchildren, Stephania (Kevin) Bass, Shannon (Tonya) Snyder, Shelly (Rob) Spain, Jenny (Jeff) Maddox, Abby McClelland, Devin (Natalie Shocklee) Kemp, and Schuyler (Madisen) Kemp; ten great grandchildren, Breanne and Jared Dover, Paige Bass, Nikki (Taylor Brookheart) Snyder, Nicholas (Debra) Snyder, Zoey and Zaden Spain, Blake, Logan and Tanner Maddox; four great great grandchildren, Avery and Blakelynn Snyder, Ryker and Oona Brookheart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; two sisters, Ethel Vandiver and Sue Adam; one grandson, Stacy Snyder; and one great grandson, Skylar Maddox.
Ann graduated from Leonard, Missouri High School. Jim and Ann farmed in the Leonard area in the late 40’s and mid 50’s. She was active in 4-H while living in Leonard. Ann worked in grocery stores in Shelbina and Kirksville, Missouri; also cooked at the Adair County jail in Kirksville. She loved dancing, gardening, crafting, and crocheting. Ann and Jim spent 14 memorable winters in Texas as “snow birds” at Bit of Heaven Campground.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
