Mexico Sweeps Double Header Over KHS

Two similar games and similar outcomes in a Mexico double header sweep over KHS Tuesday at Tiger Gym. The Lady Tigers fell 47-37 and the Tigers dropped a 60-47 decision to the Bulldogs. In the girls game, KHS held Mexico without a basket until midway through the 2nd quarter and led 15-11 at the break. But Mexico got the inside game going with Mya Miller and outscored KHS 21-11 in the 3rd to pull away and win 47-37. Miller was a big factor on defense, also, as KHS never did get much offensively on the inside. Miller finished with 14 points to lead all scorers, Corinne Vorkink had11 to lead Kirksville. The Lady Tigers drop to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCMC.
In the Boys game, the Tigers also took an early ten point lead early in the second at 20-10, but got outscored by the Bulldogs 22-12 in the 2nd quarter. Isaac Danielson had a great first quarter with 16 points and being his usual aggressive self, drawing fowls and going 3 out of 4 from the line in the first period. A strong third quarter by Danielson kept the Tigers in the game, but Mexico proved to be too much and the Tigers fall 60-47. Danielson led all scorers with 27, 14 from Keaton Anderson. Isaiah Reams led Mexico with 23 points. KHS falls to 5-1 on the year, 1-1 in the NCMC.
Next, it’s a varsity twin bill at Fulton Friday night, coverage on KIRX around 6:10.
