The Cubs have won five straight.
St. Louis has dropped 11 of 13 to fall one game below .500 for the first time since April 23.
Davies (4-3) struck out six and walked two in 6 2/3 innings to win his second straight start.
Craig Kimbrel struck out three in the ninth, working around a one-out walk, for his 18th save in 20 chances.
Carlos Martinez was charged with the loss, working seven innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 6.
LHP Kwang Hyun Kim (lower back tightness) threw a bullpen session before the game and gave a thumbs up to reporters as he exited the field. If there are no complications, Kim could start Tuesday night against Miami … OF Justin Williams (neck stiffness) went 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored in two rehab appearances over the weekend for Triple-A Memphis. He is eligible to be activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday.
RHP Adam Wainwright (4-5, 4.03 ERA) starts the opener of a three-game home series against Miami on Monday night, 6:20 with the pregame and the first pitch at 7:15 on KIRX.
