Verna Berniece Hines, 97 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan.
Berniece was born January 4, 1924 in Pollock, Missouri to Albert and Lola Mae (Yardley) Wyant. On September 24, 1941 she married Walter Ora Hines, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded by: her parents; special friend, Bubby Frazier; 12 brothers and sisters; a daughter-in-law, Dottie Hines; a son-in-law, Dick Bankes; and In-laws, Cecil and Eva Hines.
Survivors include: One daughter, Norma Jean Bankes of Kirksville, Missouri; One son, Larry Hines (Connie McFarland) of Milan; four grandchildren, Sherri (David) VanVelzer, Danny (Heather) Bankes, Paula (Jeff) Hullinger, and Tina (Bryan) Clark; 11 great grandchildren, Justin Lorence, Danae VanVelzer, Gavin Bankes, Desiree Bankes, Zack Hand, Collin Rardon, Tristian Rardon, Gracie Simpson, Morgan Gray, Lacey Clark, Wyatt Clark, and Zayden Lester; 2 great great grandchildren, Charlotte Lorence and Isaac Bankes and many nieces and nephews.
Berniece was always there for her family and enjoyed all the grandchildren. She loved to read and enjoyed her flowers. Berniece was an excellent cook and the family enjoyed having Sunday meals with everyone’s favorite food.
A graveside service for Berniece will be held 2:30 PM, Monday, April 19, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Monday at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan.
