Bulldog Women Pick Up Win

A 7-0 push at the end of the third quarter was the momentum the Truman women needed to finally put away a pesky Maryville University squad 82-73 in Pershing Arena on Saturday afternoon. Katie Jaseckas notched her 18th career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

An offensive feast started the game with Truman’s Hannah Belanger and Maryville’s Jayda Jansen lighting up the scoreboard early. Belanger hit her first eight field goal attempts, four from outside and scored 20 points while Jansen was 7-of-11 with 16 points in the first half.

Maryville came back from a 27-18 first quarter deficit to tie the game at 45 apiece on the shoulders of just one turnover and outscoring the Bulldogs 15-0 on points off of turnovers.

The Saints took a 50-49 on a Hunter Stidham three-pointer with 7:08 to go in the third quarter and 58-57 before Jaseckas knocked down a three-pointer to start the 7-0 burst.

The lead would grow to as many as 14 points for Truman.

The Bulldogs owned the glass with a 40-15 advantage and has 12 offensive rebounds to the Saints’ three.

Belanger led all scorers with 26 points with five triples and 9-of-12 overall shooting. Jaseckas poured in 18 points and 11 rebounds with three blocks.

Jansen finished with 21 for the Saints.

Truman (6-2) will host Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
