Bulldog Men Stay Undefeated

The Truman Men’s Basketball team remained undefeated Saturday by taking down Lindenwood 76-63, giving the team ten straight wins, their first double digit winning streak since the 1998-99 season. Dylan Peeters led the team in both points with a career high 21 and in rebounds with 11. Cade McKnight scored 13 points and grabbed ten boards. It was the first time two Bulldogs had double-doubles since December 7, 2017 when Brodric Thomas scored 19 with 11 boards and Zach Fischer scored 22 with 10 boards at McKendree.

The Bulldogs started slowly in the first half as Lindenwood jumped out to a 10-5 lead at the 15:01 mark of the first half. But Hunter Strait got a layup to bring Truaman within three and then completed a three point play at 14:03 to tie the game. At 11:47 McKnight converted a layup to put Truman in the lead at 16-14, their first lead since 5-4 at the 16:09 mark. After Lindenwood tied the game back up, McKnight reeled off seven straight for the Bulldogs to build a five point edge. The next few minutes would include the teams giving and taking the lead, but a jumper by Masen Miller at the 4:36 mark gave Truman the lead 30-29 and was the start of a 12-2 run for Truman. The last two buckets of the run were three pointers off Miller’s hot hand. Ultimately, Truman went into the intermission with a 40-33 edge.

Turner Scott led off the second half with a three pointer to give Truman a ten point lead, and in the opening minutes of the second half it would swell to as many as 16. After Lindenwood scored four straight to bring the game back within 12 Peeters threw down a dunk which would start a 12-3 run that culminated in a layup by McKnight. At 65-44, the Bulldogs had their largest lead of the game. Truman would see out the game and cruise to a 13 point win.

Miller continues his hot start from downtown as he sank another five treys-and was second on the team with 19 points. Scott dished out eight assists and scored eight points while Peeters blocked two shots and McKnight racked up eight steals.

Truman shot lights out in the first half at 61.5% (16-26) from the field, as well as 55.6% (5-9) from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs will be back in action next Friday as they take on Maryville in St. Louis, before coming home to take on Quincy on December 20.
