Spartans Shut Out Tigers At Moberly

The Kirksville Tigers could never get control of the line of scrimmage Friday night and the Moberly Spartans dominated KHS 27-0 at Moberly’s Homecoming.  The Tigers took the opening kick and drove deep into Moberly territory, but turned the ball over on downs.  The Tigers got another chance deep in Moberly’s end, but came up empty again. Moberly’s Jake Davidson scored two first half touchdowns to give the Spartans a 13-0 lead at halftime.  Moberly took the second half kickoff all the way to the Kirksville 48 yard line and finished off the drive with a two yard touchdown run by quarterback Dominic Stoneking with 8:45 to play in the third to give the Spartans a 20-0 lead.  Moberly salted the game away with a 14 play, 94 yard drive which consumed 7 minutes and 43 seconds, culminating with a nine yard touchdown pass to Jackson Miller with 4:23 to play in the game.  Moberly picked up 379 total yards of offense, 236 on the ground.  KHS was only able to muster 155 total yards of offense against a stout Moberly defense which harassed quarterback Jaden Ballinger all night.  Ballinger threw three interceptions.  Moberly climbs to 4-0 on the year, 1-0 in the NCMC.  Kirksville slips to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.  Next the Tigers make the trip to Marshall Friday.  Marshall lost to Mexico 28-20.
