Harold Eugene “Gene” Lunsford passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 12, 2026.
He was born in Pennville, MO in 1937 to Glen Lunsford and Emily (McDonald) Lunsford. He graduated for Green City High School before working jobs in several states before joining the army.
He was united in marriage to Phylis J (Webb) Lunsford on July 24, 1966. Together they had 4 beautiful children, who gave them 6 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. He wore many hats over his lifetime from BNSF railroad worker, carpenter where he built many homes in Sullivan country including his own and both of his sons. He was a completely self taught musician able to play guitar, steel guitar, bass guitar and mandolin. He shared this gift with many playing in several bands until giving his life to Jesus where the Lord called him to ministry, taking many forms. Gene was passionate about ministering to others and his family. He never met a stranger and adopted most folks as his own.
Over the course of Gene’s 40+ year ministry, he only ever had one goal, for everyone to know Jesus and to know they were loved. Jesus anchored his life. Gene had a multitude of strong relationships in his time on earth, but none were as important as his relationship with our savior, Jesus Christ. If you do not know Him, or have questions, please seek out a church to call home. Gene hopes to meet you all at the gates of heaven.
