Lindy Sue Albertson, 74, of Milan, Missouri, formerly of Lemons, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at Milan Health Care Center.
Lindy was born April 30, 1951, in Kirksville, to Donald Forest and Lillian Myrna (Remen) Albertson, they preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a brother, Dennis Forest Albertson.
Lindy is survived by: a sister, Janie (Mike) Gray of Green City; two brothers, Tommy (Peggy) Albertson of Olean, Missouri and Marty (Tiffanie) Albertson of Kansas City; nieces and nephews, Michael Jeffrey Gray (Lisa), Troy Lane Gray (Brooke), Christopher Scott (Angie) Gray, Lucas Blaine Gray, Bart Tomas (Melissa) Albertson, Bret Forest Albertson, Dylan James Albertson (Hailey), Mason Davis Albertson, Quinn Elise (Kaydon) Patrick; Great nieces and nephews, Kaden Lane Gray, Blaine Michael Gray, Ashtynn Makenzie Gray, Paytynn Nicole Gray, Gus Tomas Albertson, Kate Elizabeth Albertson, Lily Jean Albertson, and Miah Louise Albertson; an aunt, Gladys Riley of Kirksville; and several cousins.
Lindy graduated high school at Green City R-I, Class of 1969, then received her bachelor’s degree at John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, Nebraska, where she played softball, basketball, and was on the track team. Lindy played on a women’s softball team in Wahoo and then played women’s professional football for the Oklahoma City Dolls, winning a National Championship. She enjoyed playing and watching all sports.
Lindy was a maintenance supervisor for apartment complexes in Oklahoma City, then moved to Overland Park, continuing being a maintenance supervisor for over 600 apartments. She then moved back to Green City and Lemons, working at Park-A-Way in Milan until retirement.
Lindy participated and volunteered for many community activities in Green City, including announcing for Green City’s 4th of July Celebration for many years. She was a talented artist, and wrote her own songs. Lindy played the guitar and sang with her sister and brothers in a group called the Singing A’s when she was younger. She was a member of the Green City United Methodist Church.
A funeral service for Lindy will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, East of Green City. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
