Shirley Alice Hollon, 95, of Kansas City, Missouri, entered eternal life peacefully on December 17th following a brief stay at the NorthCare Hospice and Palliative Care in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Shirley was the daughter on Clell and Eva Laura Poole born June 5, 1930 in Donnellson, Iowa.
Shirley moved to Milan, Missouri and met her future husband Billy Ray Hollon while attending Milan High School. They married June 18th 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. Their union produced two children son, David L. Hollon and daughter Lisa M (Paul) Gardner.
Shirley attended and graduated from Business College in Kansas City, Missouri. Shirley worked in the clerical department of the Dodson Insurance Group for many years, taking early retirement in 1987.
Following her retirement, Shirley worked at the Subway Sandwich shop where she was awarded employee of the month for her Sandwich making skills always joking about beating the younger staff.
Shirley was actively involved with her church, singing in the choir and playing handbells. Shirley moved to The Gardens at Northgate in North Kansas City, Missouri where she formed many friendships and enjoyed her Wednesday coffee group with the Morning Glories. While at the Gardens, Shirley also sang in the community choir, and enjoyed bingo and playing cards. Her other activities she also enjoyed included needlepoint and gardening. Shirley was a devoted wife and loving mother.
After leaving the Gardens in May 2025, Shirley became a resident at The Gardens at Barry Road Assisted Living community where she resided until her passing.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Hollon and her parents, Clell and Eva Poole.
She is survived by her son, David, daughter, Lisa and son in law Paul and other cousins on her maternal side.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the care and compassion from the medical and nursing staff at NKC Health and NorthCare Hospice House.

Graveside services for Shirley will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, December 22, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, Missouri. Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
