Larry “Red” Billington

Larry “Red” Billington, 85, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Brookfield Health Care Center in Brookfield, MO.

Larry was born on January 11, 1940 in Green Castle to Edgar and Ellen (Snyder) Billington. A cattle farmer, Larry began working on the family farm at the age of five, milking cattle daily for his father before attaining the strength to lift a full milk bucket. His passion for agriculture was life-long, and he refused to accept the idea of “retirement” if it didn’t include maintaining a herd of crossbred cattle at his farm.

Larry’s other interests included NASCAR, Chevrolet vehicles, “spirited” political debate, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Larry was a man of faith and a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

Larry is survived by two sons, Loren Billington and wife Jaclyn of Kirksville, Missouri, and Kevin Billington of Green Castle, Missouri; three grandchildren, Shelby Billington, Charley Billington, and Cali Billington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Donna Billington; his parents; a sister, Wanda Dillard; and brothers, Ivan Billington, Gary Billington, Ernie Billington, Gordon Billington, Vernon Billington, and Jerry Billington.

A visitation for Larry will be held 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri. Graveside services will follow at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Green Castle Cemetery.
