Judy Arlene (Swinderman) McElhinney, 82 of rural Queen City, Missouri passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, Missouri on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The daughter of George Harrison Swinderman Sr. and Orion Irene (Smith), she was born on December 15, 1942 in Wyaconda, Missouri. She was a graduate of Wyaconda High School in Wyaconda, Missouri. On May 20, 1960 in Wyaconda, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Elmer “Sonny” Burgin McElhinney and to this union two children were born, Ron and Ronda.
Survivors include her children, Ron McElhinney and wife, Lori of Lancaster, Missouri and Ronda Probasco and friend, Jeff Ballanger of Moulton, Iowa; grandchildren, Lucas McElhinney of Lancaster, Missouri, Whitney Rigdon and husband, Ethan of Queen City, Missouri, David Probasco of Moulton, Iowa and Haley Probasco of Moulton, Iowa; nine great grandchildren, Brenton, Sophie and Chayton Thomas of Moulton, Iowa, Drake Macomber of Lancaster, Missouri, Brantlee and Brinklee McElhinney of Lancaster, Missouri, Oakley Rockhold of Queen City, Missouri and Ryder and Mazie Rigdon of Queen City, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Joyce Hill of Unionville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other family members and many good friends including, Bill and Donna Shoop of Moravia, Iowa, Marion and Marge Macomber of Lancaster, Missouri and Haley McElhinney of Lancaster, Missouri.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer “Sonny” McElhinney; two brothers, George Harrison Swinderman Jr and Guy Swinderman and one sister, Norma Goodson.
Judy was employed at the Kirksville Glove Factory in Kirksville, Missouri for many years until she went to work at Hollister’s in Kirksville, Missouri until her retirement. She loved to cook and bake for anyone, and she was a very caring and giving person. Judy’s love was her family and friends. She was an active member of the church and a board member with the Jimtown Cemetery. She loved to watch her grandkids and great grandkids in sports and activities. Judy enjoyed her garden and visiting with friends. She always had a smile!

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jimtown Cemetery southwest of Glenwood, Missouri with Mikel Roberts of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Pallbearers will be Lucas McElhinney, David Probasco, Brenton Thomas, Jason Hill, Mark Macomber and Steve Shoop. Visitation will be held between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
