Edna Faye LaFaver

Edna Faye LaFaver, 90, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Edna was born August 29, 1935 in Green City, to Benjamin and Nellie Van (Brandon) Kiger. She married Ronald LaFaver, and he survives her of the home. Also surviving: Five children, Susan Jessen (Kirk) of Smithville, Paul LaFaver (Marie) of Kirksville, Glenda Shafer (Randall) of Kirksville, Robert LaFaver (Christy) of Green City, and Damon LaFaver (Audrey Ford) of Macon, Missouri; Grandchildren, Amanda Bush, Sara Paalhar (Andy), Eric Jessen (Cicely), Alan Gashwiler (Darcy), Justin Shafer (Caressa), Jordan Shafer(Sarah Majors), Jared Shafer(Alyssa), Carrie Sanchez(Luie), Marissa Western(Zach), Blythe LaFaver, Stetson Hodgen, Keitlin Booth, and Blaaze Booth; 19 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Marjorie Harlan; brother, Glenn Kiger; and sister-in-law, Patsy Harlan; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by: Her parents; a son, Eldon LaFaver; Sisters, Bessie Marie Wilson, Eva Mae Branstetter; Brother, James Irvie Kiger; and grandsons, Jason Wayne Shafer and Jeremiah Bush.

Edna grew up in Green City, going to the Hawkeye rural school, then graduating from Green City High School. Over the years she served as church recording secretary, Sunday school treasurer and Sunday school class teacher, 3 terms on the Extension Council, and many years as the Union Township tax collector. She was a room mother at school several times, donating many pies for school activities, and served for 21 years as a 4-H Leader and served 3 terms on the 4-H Advisory Board. She was also a member of Eastern Star. Edna worked for 18 years at ASI.

Edna enjoyed sewing, reading, fishing, visiting with her grandchildren and remembering their cute sayings.

Funeral services for Edna will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, East of Green City. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior, starting at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
