John David Pitt

John David Pitt, 62 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, August 22, 2025. The son of Laurel Keith and Delphine (Loughead) Pitt, he was born on November 8, 1962 in Unionville, Missouri.  He attended Green City High School in Green City, Missouri.  On January 29, 1999, at the First Christian Church in Kirksville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Davis and to this union one daughter, Lisa Lynn was born.

John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Pitt of Kirksville, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Lynn Pitt and fiancé, Zach Groseclose of Lancaster, Missouri; one step-son, David Hudson of Memphis, Missouri;  two grandchildren, Lydia Lynn and Blake Ryan Groseclose of Lancaster, Missouri; two sisters, Beverly Johnson (Henry) of Eldon, Missouri and Virginia Potter (Clyde) of Baring, Missouri; two brothers in law, Alan Cornelison of Kirksville, Missouri and Bobby Pietrzak of Iberia, Missouri; nieces and nephews, who he helped raise, includes Jessica Sipe of Kirksville, Missouri, Jennifer Cornelison and significant other, Avery Sturgeon of Hurdland, Missouri, Sara Cornelison of Kirksville, Missouri and Emily Cornelison and significant other, Cody Helm of Kirksville, Missouri; other family members and many good friends including Terry and Vickie Groseclose of Lancaster, Missouri.

John is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Marvin “Mac” McCammant; one granddaughter, Ember Lynn Delphine Pitt; two sisters, Patricia Cornelison and Kay Pietrzak and one niece, Carrie Cornelison.

John was employed with Casey’s for over 15 years and was employed at the Lancaster, Missouri Casey’s at the time of his death.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. at the Burnett Cemetery in Pennville, Missouri, north of Green City, Missouri with Brad Drummond assisted by Aaron Gingerich officiating.  Pallbearers will be Zach Groseclose, Avery Sturgeon, Caleb Walters, Austin Jones, David Potter and Chris Johnson.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.  Memorials have been established for the family to be used for funeral expenses.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Burial will be in the Burnett Cemetery in Pennville, Missouri, north of Green City, Missouri.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
