Gerald Ray McVay, 78, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at his home.
The son of the late Carl Edward and Ruby Diana (Stribling) McVay, he was born November 13, 1946 in Kirksville, Missouri. He was also preceded in death by one son, Scott McVay.
Gerald is survived by his wife Bertha of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Casey Erwin and Amanda McVay of Kirksville, MO; eight grandchildren, Ivan, Dalton, Drew, Carter, Logan, Donovan, Chloe, and Ruby; as well as two nephews, Brian Ritchie and Steven Ritchie; and one niece, Sherri Saale.
Gerald was a graduate from LaPlata High School. He worked in custodial work for Grim-Smith, KOH and Laughlin hospitals, and last at Truman College. Gerald enjoyed car collecting and loved all animals.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025 with family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Ralph Wheeler will officiate the service and Interment will follow the service at Sabbath Home Cemetery in rural Brashear, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Ivan McVay, Dalton McVay, Drew McVay, Carter McVay, Logan McVay, and Donovan McVay.
