Kevin Cochran Sloan, 60, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital.
Kevin was born on May 1, 1965, in Milan, Missouri, to Terence and Donna (Cochran) Sloan. On July 6, 1991, he married Tracy Elaine Hostetter of Gladstone, Missouri. To this union, son Mason Cyril was born. He is survived by his wife Tracy and son Mason of the home; His father, Terence Sloan; brother Mark (Peggy) Sloan; sisters Sandra (Craig Adams) Sloan and Sherri (Brad) White; sister-in-law Wendy (Mac) Williams; nieces Mikayla Williams and Gabrielle Williams; nephews Matthew (Andrea) Sharp, Greg (Christine) Hedges, Travis (Sammie) Hostetter, and Tyree Hostetter; great nieces Abigail Sharp and Isabela Hostetter; and, great nephews Bryson Sharp, Jeremiah (Katie) Sharp, Josiah Sharp, Zane Hedges, Cohen Hedges, and Travis Hostetter Jr.; and great great nieces Harper and Londyn Sharp. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna Sloan, father-in-law Larry Hostetter, and several aunts and uncles.
Kevin graduated from Milan High School in 1983 and spent his life living in Missouri – both Gladstone and Milan. He found his greatest joy in his son Mason, and in his many nieces and nephews.
Kevin began his career as a bricklayer, working alongside his father for Irvinbilt in Chillicothe, Missouri, and spent the majority of his later professional life with Rick Wood Masonry in Higginsville, Missouri. He was proud of being a third-generation bricklayer. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Milan for several years.
Kevin loved hunting, playing pitch, and especially golf – whether it was playing a round or watching it on TV. He spent countless hours golfing with family and friends in Milan. Kevin was Forever Royal and an avid Chiefs fan. He loved being with the guys, whether it was golf outings, watching the Royals and going to Chiefs games, or hanging out socializing. So much socializing … Kevin enjoyed talking to people.
Kevin had a passion for barbequing and family and friends were very thankful he loved sharing his cooking. He also had a keen interest in family history and was known for his ability to recall the birth years of a long list of cousins. He enjoyed traveling and some of his favorite trips were to California to golf with his buddies, visiting his sister in Washington, and he even enjoyed skipping down Main Street in Magic Kingdom a few times with Mason. One of Kevin’s favorite places was Ronnie Smith’s farm, often saying that the view from there could not be beat.
Funeral services for Kevin will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 30, 2025, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri. Burial will follow at Judson Cemetery in Harris. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, from 6-8:00pm at the funeral home.
