The Kirksville Tigers overcame an ugly second quarter to beat Moberly in overtime 61-52. Kirksville led by five late in the fourth quarter and had a chance to seal the game in regulation, but a very ill-timed turnover led to a basket for the Spartans, then Cameron Doubrava buried a three to tie the game at 42-42 with 7 seconds left. The Tigers couldn’t get off a good shot as the clock ran out and sent the game to overtime. Both teams ended up in the double bonus, but KHS made the most of the opportunity. The Tigers made 12 out 15 at the stripe in the fourth quarter and overtime,l while Moberly was only 5 out of 8. For the game, the Tigers were 18 out of 23, while the Spartans were just 6 for 14. Carter Pinkerton scored nine points in the fourth quarter and OT and was five out of seven from the line. A couple of big free throws by Carson Kelly and Kyle White helped as well. But it was Logan Martin who scored 14 points, 10 in the fourth quarter and overtime including a huge three point bucket, and was three out of four at the line. The Tigers climb to 15-7 overall and 6-2 in the NCMC. Next, they’ll be part two of Friday’s doubleheader at Fulton.
