The Kirksville Tigers won a thriller over Ft. Zumwalt South Thursday night 48-47 at the Southern Boone Classic. Trailing by two with 16 seconds left, Kyle White buried his fourth three-pointer of the night to give KHS a one point lead. The Bulldogs had to go the length of the floor and good Tiger defense didn’t permit a good look at a final shot. The Bulldogs heaved up a prayer at the buzzer which wasn’t answered and the Tigers hang on 48-47. KHS trailed 21-9 at one point in the first quarter, then went on a 10-0 run and trailed by only four at the half. KHS would fall behind 40-31 in the second half, but battled back to pick up a big win. White led the way with 14 points, 11 for Carter Pinkerton. The Tigers are 13-6 overall, 1-0 in pool play and can punch their ticket to Saturday’s championship game with a win over Riverview Gardens Friday night. A Tiger loss will throw Pool B into a big mess of a tie-breaker as all three teams would be 1-1. 5:30 tip with the pregame at 5:15.
