The Kirksville Tigers took advantage of four Centralia turnovers and a sharp third quarter on their way to a 41-12 win over the Panthers Friday, capping off a perfect 9-0 regular season. Jace Kent carried the ball 17 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns, Ryder Lyons completed 13 out of 20 for 184 yards with two touchdowns and a rushing score. In the first quarter Centralia was punting on 4th and 7, the Tigers got flagged for running into the kicker, not roughing. So Centralia punted again on 4th and 2, shanked the punt and KHS took over at the Panther 38. Kent found the end zone on a seven yard run to make it 6-0. The PAT was blocked. Carter Pinkerton picked up a fumble on Centralia’s next possession and took it in from 30 yards out to make it 12-0, PAT was blocked again, and that would be the score at the half. Kirksville took the second half kickoff and quickly scored on a 28 yard pass to Pinkerton, the 2 point conversion made it 20-0 with 9:46 to play in the 3rd. Corbin Denslow picked off a Centralia pass to set up KHS in good field position. Ryder Lyons put it in from 7 yards out to quickly make it 27-0. Kash Adams caught a 20 yard touchdown pass early in the fourth, Logan Martin scored Kirksville’s last TD of the night on a 5 yard run and the Tigers win it 41-12. Kirksville will more than likely get a home district game next week. MSHSAA will make it all official later Saturday evening. We will post as soon as the word comes.
