Canton Upsets KHS At Highland Tournament

The top seed Kirksville Tigers were upset by 4th seed Canton Thursday at the Highland Tournament 47-46 in the semifinals. KHS led by 10 in the 3rd quarter, but Canton roared back with strong defense, forcing too many Kirksville turnovers. Canton’s Preston Brewer scored the go ahead basket with a second and a half left and KHS couldn’t get a shot off in such a short time. The Tigers finished with 13 turnovers. Cole Kelly led all scorers with 18, Justin McKim with 17. Brewer led Canton with 17 points. KHS falls to 7-3 and will play Friday night for 3rd place as part of a split doubleheader on KIRX. The girls will play Macon for 5th place at 4:30 with a 4:15 pregame and the boys will play for third place at 9:00 with an 8:45 pregame.
