Blues Extinguish Flames

St. Louis 3 – CALGARY 0… Joel Hofer stopped all 27 shots at goal and the Blues breezed past the Flames. Kasperi Kapanen scored shorthanded and Nick Leddy found the net 2:01 apart in the first period.

 

Anaheim 4 – BOSTON 3 (OT)… The Ducks came from two goals down with less than 2 minutes left in regulation to outlast the Bruins. Leo Carlsson and Troy Terry scored back-to-back goals late in the third period to force the extra period. Mason McTavish found the net at 2:08 of overtime. Radko Gudas also scored for Anaheim.

MONTREAL 4 – Columbus 3 (OT)… The Canadiens overcame a two-goal deficit in the second period to outlast the Blue Jackets. Cole Caufield netted the game-winner at 3:56 of overtime. Mike Matheson and Sean Monahan scored power-play goals to tie the game.

Winnipeg 4 – DETROIT 1… Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor scored the game’s first goals 1:02 apart late in the first period and the Jets cruised past the Red Wings. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves.

TAMPA BAY 6 – San José 0… Lightning goalie Jonas Johansson faced only 23 shots in shutting out the Sharks. Brayden Point netted the only goal Tampa Bay needed 1:41 into the contest. Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist.

PITTSBURGH 4 – Colorado 0… Triston Jarry stopped all 31 shots and the Penguins blanked the Avalanche. Reilly Smith found the net twice in the first period for Pittsburgh.

CAROLINA 3 – Seattle 2 (OT)… The Hurricanes rallied past the Kraken after spotting them an early two-goal lead. Martin Necas scored Carolina’s first goal late in the first period, assisted on Jesperi Kotkaniemi’s goal in the second and netted the game-winner with 10 seconds left in overtime.

PHILADELPHIA 6 – Minnesota 2… Bobby Brink scored his first two NHL goals to lead the Flyers in their romp over the Wild. Travis Sanheim had a goal and two assists. Cam Atkinson set up three goals.

N.Y. ISLANDERS 3 – Ottawa 2… Noah Dobson’s third-period goal pushed the Islanders past the Senators after they let a two-goal second-period lead slip away. Bo Horvat and Cal Clutterbuck scored first-period goals.

Toronto 4 – DALLAS 1… Mitch Marner netted a tie-breaking goal in the final 2 minutes of the second period and the Maple Leafs scored twice more in the third to bury the Stars. Morgan Reilly had a goal and an assist. Joseph Woll made 31 stops at goal.

N.Y. Rangers 3 – EDMONTON 0… Jonathan Quick made 29 saves and the Rangers shut out the Oilers. Adam Fox and Braden Schneider each had a goal and an assist.
