NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Diego – SAN FRANCISCO – San Diego… Michael Conforto drove in both Giants runs with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning and they hung on to top the Padres. Logan Webb (11-13) scattered nine hits in going the distance.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Texas 5 – L.A. ANGELS 1… The Rangers powered their past the Angels to maintain their 2-1/2-game lead atop the AL West entering the final week of the regular season. Adolis Garcia, Mitch Garver and Nathaniel Lowe hit consecutive solo homers in the top of the sixth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. Marcus Semien homered to lead off the second. Jon Gray (9-8( allowed a run on five hits over six innings.

Houston 5 – SEATTLE 1… Justin Verlander (12-8) took a two-hit shutout into the ninth inning and the Astros took the opener of a crucial series between teams battling for a playoff berth. Yordan Alvarez smacked his 30th homer of the season to lead off the top of the third inning. Kyle Tucker homered for the 29th time to lead off the third. Martin Maldonado had a couple of hits, including an RBI double.

INTERLEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 6 – Arizona 4… The Yankees came up with three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to ease past the Diamondbacks. Estevan Florial’s sacrifice fly scored Austin Wells with the tie-breaking run. Wells homered with a runner aboard and Everson Pereira added a solo shot for New York.
