MLB Scores Monday 9-18

NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. Mets 2 – MIAMI 1… Jeff McNeill hit a tie-breaking homer to lead off the top of the ninth inning and the Mets made it stand in edging the Marlins. Mark Vientos’ run-scoring single broke a scoreless tie in the fifth. The game featured a duel between New York starter José Butto and his counterpart Edward Cabrera, but neither got a decision.

Philadelphia 7 – ATLANTA 1… Zack Wheeler (12-6) held the Braves to a run on three hits over six innings and the Phillies cruised to the win. Kyle Schwarber and Johan Rojas hit two-run homers. Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos added solo shots.

ST. LOUIS 1 – Milwaukee 0… Adam Wainwright (5-11) limited the Brewers to four hits over seven shutout innings and two relievers did the rest in the Cardinals’ win. Willson Contreras’ two-out homer in the bottom of the fifth inning accounted for the game’s only offense.

SAN DIEGO 11 – Colorado 9… The Padres used a four-run bottom of the fifth inning to open up an eight-run lead on their way past the Rockies. Luis Campusano had three hits, including a three-run homer. Garrett Cooper homered with a runner aboard and Eguy Rosario smacked a solo homer.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
KANSAS CITY 6 – Cleveland 4… Drew Waters lined a two-run double to key a four-run bottom of the eighth inning that pushed the Royals past the Guardians. Nelson Velazquez homered with the bases empty.

Boston 4 – TEXAS 2… Rob Refsnyder stroked a go-ahead two-run single and Adam Duval lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning as the Red Sox squeezed past the Rangers. Boston snapped a four-game skid and dealt Texas its fourth straight loss.

Baltimore 8 – HOUSTON 7… Cedric Mullins belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning and the Orioles made it stand in their come-from-behind win over the Astros. Ryan O’Hearn singled home two runs for Baltimore.

Seattle 5 – OAKLAND 0… Bryan Woo (4-4) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and got help from four Mariners relievers in the blanking of the Athletics. Jose Caballero had a couple of hits, including a two-run homer.

INTERLEAGUE
CINCINNATI 7 – Minnesota 3… Will Benson hit a two-run homer and lifted a sacrifice fly as the Reds cruised past the Twins. Joey Votto contributed a two-run single. Connor Phillips (1-0) allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings to claim his first major league victory.

Chi. White Sox 6 – WASHINGTON 1… Mike Clevinger (8-8) allowed a run on six hits in going the distance and the White Sox breezed past the Nationals. Luis Robert Jr. cracked a three-run homer. Tim Anderson went 4-for-5 and scored a run.

L.A. DODGERS 8 – Detroit 3… J.D. Martinez went 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and five RBIs in leading the Dodgers past the Tigers. Miguel Rojas also went deep for L.A.
