PITTSBURGH 2 – Washington 0… Mitch Keller (12-9) blanked the Nationals on two hits over eight innings and reliever David Bednar worked a perfect ninth in the Pirates shutout win. Jack Suwinski’s homer to lead off the bottom of the second inning provided the only run Pittsburgh needed. Alfonso Rivas also went deep.
MILWAUKEE 4 – Miami 2… Tyrone Taylor stroked a pair of run-scoring doubles and scored the go-ahead run on Sal Frelick’s RBI single in pushing the Brewers past the Marlins. Adrian Houser (6-4) allowed two runs on five hits over five innings.
N.Y. METS 11 – Arizona 1… Brandon Nimmo opened the scoring with a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning and the Mets never looked back in their trouncing of the Diamondbacks. Jeff McNeil homered with a runner aboard. Jonathan Araúz capped the scoring with a pinch-hit three-run homer in the eighth. Kodai Senga (11-7) pitched two-hit ball and struck out 10 over six scoreless innings.
San Francisco – COLORADO (ppd)… Rain in Denver forced postponement of last night’s Giants-Rockies game. It will be made up tomorrow as part of a doubleheader.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BOSTON 5 – N.Y. Yankees 0… Tanner Houck (5-9) pitched four-hit ball over six innings and two Red Sox relievers completed the shutout of the Yankees in the opener of a doubleheader. Trevor Story cracked a two-run homer and Ceddanne Rafaela smacked a solo shot.
N.Y. Yankees 8 – BOSTON 5… DJ LeMahieu put the Yankees on the board with a run-scoring infield single in the top of the first inning and delivered a tie-breaking RBI double in the eighth as the Yankees claimed a split of the twinbill. Aaron Judge unloaded a grand slam and Oswald Peraza hit a two-run homer.
Texas 9 – TORONTO 2… Corey Seager had three hits, including a solo homer and three RBIs, as the Rangers rolled past the Blue Jays to complete a four-game sweep. Jonah Heim also went deep. Nathaniel Lowe stroked a two-run single.
Tampa Bay 4 – BALTIMORE 3… The Rays took the series opener and pulled within a game of the Orioles atop the AL East. Luke Raley’s tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference. Brandon Lowe singled home a run and Randy Arozarena legged out a two-run triple during a three-run third.
Minnesota 10 – CHI. WHITE SOX 2… Kyle Farmer hit a two-run homer and the Twins got solo shots from Edouard Julien and Royce Lewis in their thrashing of the White Sox. Matt Wallner and Alex Kirilloff lined two-run singles.

DETROIT 8 – Cincinnati 2… Akil Baddo homered with a runner aboard and Matt Vierling unloaded a grand slam to power the Tigers past the Reds. Reese Olson (4-7) gave up a run on two hits over six innings. Kenta Maeda (5-7) surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings.
