MLB Scores Monday 9-4

NATIONAL LEAGUE
CHI. CUBS 5 – San Francisco 0… Justin Steele (16-3) allowed just two hits and struck out 12 in a dominating eight-inning effort as the Cubs blanked the Giants. Seiya Suzuki had a couple of hits, including a solo homer, and knocked in three runs.

ARIZONA 4 – Colorado 2… Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly (11-6) held the Rockies to a run on four hits and fanned 12 over seven innings. Gabriel Moreno singled home a run and Jace Peterson added a two-run double during a three-run bottom of the fourth inning.

PITTSBURGH 4 – Milwaukee 2… Jack Suwinski hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and Ke’Bryan Hayes’ two-out solo homer in the fifth gave the Pirates the lead for good in their win over the Brewers. Luis Ortiz (4-4) surrendered two runs on five hits over six innings.

Philadelphia 9 – SAN DIEGO 7… The Phillies built a seven-run lead after the first three innings and held off the Padres. Alec Bohm cleared the bases in the top of the first inning with a double. Edmundo Sosa hit a leadoff homer and Trea Turner added a two-run shot in the second.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
KANSAS CITY 12 – Chi. White Sox 1… Cole Ragans (6-4) pitched one-hit ball over six scoreless innings and got plenty of support in the Royals’ dismantling of the White Sox. Edward Olivares homered twice and knocked in three runs. Nelson Velazquez connected for a two-run homer.

Houston 13 – TEXAS 6… The Rangers overcame an early three-run deficit to roll past the Rangers. Yandy Diaz’s three-run homer capped a three-run top of the seventh inning. José Altuve had a couple of hits, including a pair of solo homers. Mauricio Dubón also homered twice with the bases empty.

Toronto 6 – OAKLAND 5 (10 innings)… Santiago Espinal’s tie-breaking RBI double sparked a three-run top of the 10th inning and the Blue Jays hung on to escape with a win over the Athletics. Spencer Horwitz doubled home Cavan Biggio with what proved to be the decisive run. Biggio produced a pair of run-scoring singles for Toronto.

Boston 7 – TAMPA BAY 3… The Red Sox eased past the Rays after spotting them a three-run first-inning lead. Triston Casas blasted a three-run homer and singled home a run. Mastataka Yoshida homered with a runner aboard.

Minnesota 20 – CLEVELAND 3… Six of the Twins’ 20 hits were home runs in the destruction of the Guardians. Royce Lewis unloaded his third grand slam in eight games and singled home two runs. Kyle Farmer belted a three-run homer. Joey Gallo and Matt Wallner smacked two-run shots. Jorge Polanco and Carlos Correa also connected. Pablo López (10-7) gave up a run on eight hits over six innings.

Baltimore 6 – L.A. ANGELS 3… Ryan Mountcastle singled home a tie-breaking run during a three-run top of the third inning and Gunnar Henderson connected for a three-run homer in the seventh as the Orioles put away the Angels. Grayson Rodriguez (5-3) allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings.

INTERLEAGUE
CINCINNATI 6 – Seattle 3… Spencer Steer’s three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning staked the Reds to a five-run lead and they went on to double up on the Mariners. Elly De La Cruz singled home a run and scored on Hunter Renfroe’s single in the first.
