The Mizzou Tigers started off the season on a high note with a big time 35-10 win over South Dakota on a Thursday night prime-time kickoff at Faurot Field.
Brady Cook started the game at quarterback playing the entire first half of the ball game. Cook was 17-21 for 172 and two scores leading the Tigers to a 28-3 lead at the half.
Sam Horn took over the offense in the second half. After a slow start, he finished three for five for 54 yards, with a touchdown and an interception.
Cody Schrader was a dominate force on the ground with 18 carries for 148 yards and a score, plus Luther Burden started his second year in Columbia strong with seven catches, 96 yards and a touchdown.
The Mizzou defense got off to a hot start in the game allowing just five total yards in the first quarter, allowing not a single first down. The group was led by six tackles from Johnny Walker, including one tackle for loss.
A big negative for Mizzou in week one was senior kicker Harrison Mevis. Mevis missed two field goals from 48 and 35 yards out.
Up next, Mizzou will be back in action next Saturday at Faurot against Middle Tennessee at 6 p.m.
