MLB Scores Thursday 8-17

NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. Mets 4 – ST. LOUIS 2… Pete Alonso broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning and Tim LoCastro capped the scoring with a homer to lead off the ninth as the Mets topped the Cardinals. Jose Quintana (1-4) allowed two runs on three hits over six innings.

Arizona 3 – SAN DIEGO 1… Zac Gallen (13-5) held the Padres to a run on three hits over 6-1/3 innings and the Diamondbacks cruised to the win. Tommy Pham homered with a runner aboard in the top of the fifth inning and Gabriel Moreno homered to lead off the sixth for Arizona.

L.A. DODGERS 1 – Milwaukee 0… Austin Barnes’ one-out homer in the bottom of the eighth inning provided the game’s only offense and lifted the Dodgers over the Brewers. The game featured a duel between L.A. starter Lance Lynn and his counterpart Corbin Burnes, but neither got a decision.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Seattle 6 – KANSAS CITY 4… Julio Rodríguez blasted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to cap a 5-for-5, five-RBI effort in the Mariners’ win over the Royals. Cal Raleigh also went deep for Seattle.

Detroit – CLEVELAND (ppd)… Rain in Cleveland forced postponement of last night’s Tigers-Guardians game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

INTERLEAGUE
WASHINGTON 10 – Boston 7… The first of Joey Menesez’s two two-run doubles gave the Nationals the lead for good in their defeat of the Red Sox. Menesez finished with five RBIs. Stone Garrett singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Patrick Corbin (8-10) allowed a run on four hits over six innings.
