MLB Scores Sunday 8-13

NATIONAL LEAGUE
PITTSBURGH 4 – Cincinnati 2… Jared Triolo’s first major league homer was a go-ahead three-run shot in the bottom of the seventh inning and pushed the Pirates past the Reds in the opener of a doubleheader. The game featured a duel between Pittsburgh starter Mitch Keller and his counterpart Brandon Williamson, but neither got a decision.

Cincinnati 6 – PITTSBURGH 5 (10 innings)… Stuart Fairchild doubled home a tying run in the top of the eighth inning and his infield grounder in the 10th scored Tyler Stephenson with the decisive run as the Reds outlasted the Pirates to claim a split of the twinbill. Elly De La Cruz homered. Henry Ramos went 3-for-3 with a run-scoring single.

ARIZONA 5 – San Diego 4… Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and Alek Thomas lifted a sacrifice fly in the eighth to score Christian Walker with a go-ahead run to rally the Diamondbacks past the Padres. Gerardo Perdomo smacked a solo homer.

L.A. DODGERS 8 – Colorado 3… The Dodgers rolled past the Rockies for their eighth straight win. Miguel Rojas hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and lifted a sacrifice fly. Mookie Betts lined a two-run double. Julio Urías (10-6) gave up three runs on four hits and struck out 12 over seven innings.

N.Y. METS 7 – Atlanta 6… The Mets used a six-run bottom of the fifth inning to erase a two-run deficit and held on to edge the Braves. Rafael Ortega’s second single of the inning brought home two runs and capped the uprising. Jeff McNeill had three hits, including an RBI single.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
BOSTON 6 – Detroit 3… Adam Duval singled home a run and blasted a three-run homer as the Red Sox doubled up on the Tigers. Justin Turner added a solo shot. Trevor Story went 4-for-4 and scored twice,

Cleveland 9 – TAMPA BAY 2… The Guardians built a 7-0 lead after their first three at-bats and coasted past the Rays. Andrés Giménez went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and two RBIs. Gabriel Arias homered with a runner aboard. Tanner Bibee (9-2) surrendered two runs on seven hits over seven innings in winning his seventh straight decision.

L.A. Angels 2 – HOUSTON 1… Shohei Ohtani’s 41st homer of the season came with the bases empty in the top of the sixth inning and proved to be the difference as the Angels held off the Astros. Chase Silseth (4-1) pitched four-hit ball over five scoreless innings and four relievers did the rest.

Baltimore 5 – SEATTLE 3 (10 innings)… Orioles centerfielder Cedric Mullins made a leaping catch at the wall to rob the Mariners’ Ty France of a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning and homered with a runner aboard in the 10th. Austin Hays singled home a run for Baltimore.

INTERLEAGUE
WASHINGTON 8 – Oakland 7… Jeter Downs singled home Domonic Smith with the winning run as the Nationals rallied to score six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and stun the Athletics. Stone Garrett sparked the uprising with an RBI single and finished with three RBIs.

Minnesota 3 – PHILADELPHIA 0… Sonny Gray (6-5) limited the Phillies to two hits over six innings and got help from four Twins relievers in the shutout. Jordan Luplow’s first-inning solo homer provided all the offense Minnesota needed. Jorge Polanco added a pair of run-scoring singles.

TORONTO 11 – Chi. Cubs 4… Daulton Varsho belted a three-run homer and singled home a pair of runs to lead the Blue Jays in their pounding of the Cubs. Whit Merrifield had four hits, including an RBI double. Hyun Jim Ryu (1-1) allowed two runs on two his over five innings.

MIAMI 8 – N.Y. Yankees 7… The Marlins rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and upend the Yankees. Luis Arraez tied the game with a two-run triple and scored the winning run on Jake Burger’s second RBI single of the game.

Milwaukee 7 – CHI. WHITE SOX 3… Carlos Santana hit a three-run homer and Christian Yelich singled home two runs as the Brewers cruised past the White Sox to complete a series sweep. Freddy Peralta ((9-8) tossed four-hit ball over six scoreless innings.

SAN FRANCISCO 3 – Texas 2 (10 innings)… Patrick Bailey’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Giants a dramatic win over the Rangers. Michael Conforto opened the scoring with a homer to lead off the second. Texas scored single runs in the ninth and 10th innings.
