MLB scores Tuesday 8-8

NATIONAL LEAGUE
PHILADELPHIA 8 – Washington 4… Kyle Schwarber homered twice and drove in five runs as the Phillies doubled up on the Nationals in the doubleheader opener. Alec Bohm and Jake Cave also went deep.

Washington 5 – PHILADELPHIA 4… Joey Menesez tied the game with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning and added a go-ahead solo shot in the ninth to power the Nationals past the Phillies for a split of the twinbill. Ildemaro Vargas put Washington on the board with a two-run homer in the fourth.

Miami 3 – CINCINNATI 2… Jorge Soler cracked a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning and the Marlins made it stand in downing the Reds. Braxton Garrett (6-3) allowed two runs on six hits over six innings.

Atlanta 8 – PITTSBURGH 6… Kevin Pillar stroked a game-tying RBI single and Orlando Arcia added a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning as the Braves pulled past the Pirates. Arcia also homered with the bases empty. Ronald Acuña homered to lead off the game.

Chi. Cubs 3 – N.Y. METS 2… The Cubs overcame an early two-run deficit to squeeze past the Mets. Mike Tauchman hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the eighth inning. Cody Bellinger also homered. Jameson Taillon (7-6) gave up two runs on three hits over seven innings.

Colorado 7 – MILWAUKEE 3 (10 innings)… The Rockies drew three straight bases-loaded walks in the top of the 10th inning before Nolan Jones capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the defeat of the Brewers. Jones hit two solo homers for Colorado. Elias Diaz also connected.

L.A. Dodgers 5 – ARIZONA 4… Mookie Betts doubled home a run and stroked a run-scoring single as the Dodgers built a four-run lead and held off the Diamondbacks. Enrique Hernández and Freddie Freeman also produced RBI doubles. Julio Urías (9-6) pitched four-hit ball over six scoreless innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
DETROIT 6 – Minnesota 0… Eduardo Rodriguez (8-5) pitched four-hit ball over seven innings and two Tigers relievers did the rest in the blanking of the Twins. Jake Rogers homered and Zack Short singled home two runs for Detroit.

Houston 7 – BALTIMORE 6… Kyle Tucker unloaded a go-ahead grand slam in the top of the ninth inning and the Astros hung on for a come-from-behind win over the Orioles. Jeremy Peña went 3-for-4 and singled in the tying run in the eighth.

Kansas City 9 – BOSTON 3… Michael Massey went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in leading the Royals past the Red Sox. MJ Melendez and Drew Waters also homered with a runner aboard. Kyle Isbel added two RBIs.

CLEVELAND 1 – Toronto 0… Ramon Laureano doubled home Oscar Gonzales with the game’s only run in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Guardians clipped the Blue Jays. Tanner Bibee (8-2) scattered six hits over seven innings before two relievers shut the door.

N.Y. Yankees 7 – CHI. WHITE SOX 1… The Yankees put up four runs in the top of the fourth inning and never looked back in cruising past the White Sox. Kyle Hagashioka homered with a runner aboard and Aaron Judge added a solo shot. Isaiah Kiner-Falefa had a couple of hits, including a two-run double. Clarke Schmidt (8-6) allowed a run on four hits over 5-1/3 innings.

Texas 6 – OAKLAND 1… Max Scherzer (11-4) held the Athletics to a run on three hits over seven innings and reliever Brock Burke did the rest in the Rangers victory. Corey Seager had three hits, including an RBI double and a solo homer.

INTERLEAGUE
TAMPA BAY 4 – St. Louis 2… Yandy Díaz, Brandon Lowe and Randy Arozarena delivered run-scoring singles in the top of the eighth inning to push the Rays past the Cardinals. Isaac Paredes hit a solo homer.

L.A. ANGELS 7 – San Francisco 5… Shohei Ohtani singled home a run to spark a four-run bottom of the first inning and the Angels fought off the Giants. Brandon Drury smacked a solo homer. Mike Moustakas and Hunter Renfroe both had a couple of hits and drove in two runs.

SEATTLE 2 – San Diego 0… Logan Gilbert (10-5) limited the Padres to one hit and struck out 12 in a dominant seven-inning effort before two relievers finished off a shutout of the Padres. Cal Raleigh drew a bases-loaded walk and Dylan Moore tripled home a run for Seattle.
