Karen Jane Platz, 75 of Kirksville passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 in Paris, Missouri.
The daughter of Glen and Viola (Lutz) Dixon, she was born November 16, 1947 in rural Adair County, Missouri. Karen married Rick Kennison and three children were born to this union. On September 9, 1991 she married Terry Platz.
Karen is survived by two children, Tracie Wood of Shelbina, MO and Jeremy (Melissa) Kennison of Paris, MO; three step children, Tracy (Renee) Platz, Carrie (Dan) Weber and Corey (Leslie) Platz all of Kansas City, MO; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Roger Dixon of Alabama; one sister-in-law, Delores Dixon of Oregon; several nieces, nephews, cousins and one special great grandson that she and Terry raised until age 9 years old, Aiden William Loper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; her parents; one son, Carl David Kennison; one granddaughter, Melissa Ann Wood; one sister, Shirley May McKim; six brothers, Vernon, Junior (Carl), Norman, Melvin, Ed, and Bob; and six sisters-in-law, Hetty Dixon, Rose Dixon, Helen Dixon, Ellen Dixon, Hallie Dixon, and Lavon Dixon.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City, Missouri.
Memorials in memory of Karen are suggested to the Shriner’s Hospital.
