NATIONAL LEAGUE
WASHINGTON 3 – N.Y. Mets 2… Centerfielder Alex Call came up with a pair of big plays defensively in the top of the ninth inning to preserve the Nationals’ win over the Mets in the completion of a Saturday night game suspended in the third inning due to rain. C.J. Abrams singled home a tie-breaking run in the fourth and gave Washington the lead for good with a seventh-inning homer.

N.Y. Mets 8 – WASHINGTON 2… Starling Marte stroked a two-run single as the Mets came alive to score all eight runs in the top of the fifth inning on their way past the Nationals for a split of the twinbill. Max Scherzer (3-2) allowed a run on two hits over five innings.

MIAMI 3 – Cincinnati 1… Garrett Cooper doubled home a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored on Bryan De La Cruz’s single to push the Marlins past the Reds. De La Cruz also smacked a pair of doubles.

COLORADO 4 – Philadelphia 0… Kyle Freeland (4-4) pitched four-hit ball over six innings and got help from two relievers in the Rockies’ blanking of the Phillies. Brenton Doyle homered for Colorado. Kris Bryant had a couple of hits, including an RBI single.

L.A. DODGERS 4 – San Diego 0… Tony Gonsolin (1-1) pitched two-hit ball over five innings and four Dodgers relievers allowed just one hit the rest of the way in the shutout of the Padres. Mookie Betts homered with a runner aboard and Miguel Vargas drilled a two-run double for Los Angeles, which swept the series and ran its winning streak to five games.

ARIZONA 2 – San Francisco 1… Lourdes Gurriel Jr. doubled home Christian Walker in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Diamondbacks a walkoff win over the Giants. Josh Rojas produced a game-tying RBI double in the fifth.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
CLEVELAND 4 – L.A. Angels 3… Josh Naylor belted a tie-breaking three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Guardians hung on to edge the Angels. Naylor also scored an unearned run in the second to open the scoring.

Tampa Bay 8 –  N.Y. YANKEES 7… Taylor Walls unloaded a tie-breaking grand slam to cap a five-run top of the fifth inning and the Rays held off the Yankees to claim a split of the four-game series. Brandon Lowe knocked in two runs for Tampa Bay.

DETROIT 5 – Seattle 3… The Tigers eased past the Mariners to salvage the series finale. Javier Báez drove in a pair of runs. Riley Greene had three hits and scored a run.

Houston 4 – CHI. WHITE SOX 3… Yainer Diaz’s first major league homer was a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning that gave the Astros a four-run lead and they made it stand in their win over the White Sox. Yordan Alvarez lined a two-run double and scored on Kyle Tucker’s sacrifice fly in the first.

Texas 11 – OAKLAND 3… Adolis Garcia opened an eight-run top of the eighth inning with a double and ended it with a grand slam to bury the Athletics. Robbie Grossman homered with a runner aboard and singled home a run for Texas.

INTERLEAGUE
Pittsburgh 4 – BALTIMORE 0… Mitch Keller (5-1) limited the Orioles to four hits and struck out 13 over seven innings before two Pirates relievers completed the shutout. Ji Hwan Bae slapped a two-run single for Pittsburgh.

TORONTO 6 – Atlanta 5… Danny Jansen’s two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Blue Jays over the Braves. George Springer cracked a game-tying solo homer in the fourth. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled home two runs.

MINNESOTA 16 – Chi. Cubs 3… The Twins mounted seven-run rallies in the third and eighth innings in their pounding of the Cubs. Trevor Larnach hit a three-run homer and doubled home a run. Joey Gallo added a two-run shot and Michael A. Taylor smacked a solo homer for Minnesota.
