NATIONAL LEAGUE
CINCINNATI 5 – N.Y. Mets 0… Kevin Newman’s two-run single capped a four-run bottom of the first inning and Spencer Steer homered in the fifth as the Reds breezed past the Mets. Four Cincinnati pitchers combined on a six-hitter.

SAN FRANCISCO 6 – Arizona 2… Casey Schmitt went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer and an RBI double in leading the Giants past the Diamondbacks. Alex Cobb (3-1) scattered seven hits over 7-1/3 scoreless innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
KANSAS CITY 4 – Chi. White Sox 3… Freddy Fermin bunted home Nick Pratto with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Royals over the White Sox. Michael Massey homered with the bases empty and Maikel Garcia doubled home two runs for Kansas City.

Tampa Bay 8 – N.Y. YANKEES 2… Jordan Lowe lined a bases-clearing double and smacked a two-run home run in leading the Rays past the Yankees. Drew Rasmussen (4-2) pitched two-hit ball over seven scoreless innings.

Texas 4 – OAKLAND 0… Nathan Eovaldi (5-2) pitched three-hit ball and struck out 12 over 8-2/3 innings before turning it over to reliever Will Smith to complete the shutout of the Athletics. Marcus Semien smacked a solo homer for Texas.

INTERLEAGUE
MINNESOTA 5 – San Diego 3… Carlos Correa came through with a tie-breaking two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Twins hung on to down the Padres. Kyle Farmer hit a solo homer.
