Florida 4 – TORONTO 2… Carter Verhaeghe netted a tie-breaking goal late in the second period and Brandon Montour scored in the third as the Panthers doubled up on the Maple Leafs. Goals by Nick Cousins and Sam Bennett staked Florida to a two-goal lead that it couldn’t hold. The series remains in Toronto for Game 2 tomorrow.
Seattle 5 – DALLAS 4 (OT)… Yanni Grourde scored off a rebound at 12:17 of overtime to lift the Kraken over the Stars. Justin Schultz, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jordan Eberle netted consecutive goals 52 seconds apart to cap a four-goal first period. Goalie Philipp Grubauer made 31 saves. Joe Pavelski scored all four goals for Dallas, which hosts tomorrow’s Game 2.
