Philadelphia 119 – BOSTON 115… The 76ers fought their way past the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals opener despite the absence of Joel Embiid. James Harden knocked down a go-ahead 3-pointer with 8.7 seconds remaining and finished with a game-high 45 points. Tyrese Maxey added 26 points. Paul Reed grabbed 13 rebounds to go with his 10 points. Boston’s Jayson Tatum had 39 points and 10 boards in the loss. The series remains in Boston for Game 2 tomorrow.
DENVER 97 – Phoenix 87… The Nuggets turned it up defensively in fighting their way past the Suns to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals. Nikola Jokic had game-highs with 39 points and 16 rebounds. Devin Booker’s 35 points weren’t enough for Phoenix, which hosts Game 3 on Friday.
