NATIONAL LEAGUE
Atlanta 9 – N.Y. METS 8… Sean Murphy belted a pair of three-run homers to power the Braves past the Mets in the opener of a doubleheader. Kevin Pillar homered with a runner aboard and Ronald Acuña Jr. added a solo shot.
N.Y. METS 5 – Atlanta 3… Francisco Álvarez stroked a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning and Jeff McNeil homered in the eighth as the Mets downed the Braves to salvage a split of the twinbill. Starter Tylor Megill held Atlanta scoreless over the first five innings but the win went to reliever Drew Smith (2-1).
Chi. Cubs 5 – WASHINGTON 1… Drew Smyly allowed just a run on six hits over seven innings and the Cubs cruised past the Nationals. Dansby Swanson smacked a two-run homer. Ian Happ also went deep.
SAN DIEGO 8 – Cincinnati 3… Ha-Seong Kim belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Padres rolled past the Reds. Juan Soto hit a two-run double and Manny Machado singled home two runs for San Diego.
L.A. DODGERS 13 – Philadelphia 4… David Peralta belted a three-run homer, Mookie Betts added a two-run shot and the Dodgers got solo blasts from Will Smith and Jason Heyward in their pounding of the Phillies. Freddie Freeman contributed a two-run single.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Cleveland 3 – N.Y. YANKEES 2… The Guardians pushed across all three runs in the top of the ninth inning to erase a two-run deficit and upend the Yankees. Mike Zunino drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Jose Ramirez with the tie-breaking run. Josh Naylor’s run-scoring single sparked the uprising.
BOSTON 6 – Toronto 5… Alex Verdugo’s homer to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Red Sox a walkoff win over the Blue Jays. Jarren Duran hit a solo homer and Enmanuel Valdez added a two-run shot in the sixth.
INTERLEAGUE
HOUSTON 7 – San Francisco 3… Mauricio Dubón’s RBI double sparked a four-run bottom of the seventh inning that carried the Astros past the Giants. Four relievers held San Francisco to four hits after starter Luis Garcia left the game in the first inning with an injury.
