NATIONAL LEAGUE
Miami 5 – ATLANTA 4… The Marlins came alive to score all five runs in the top of the ninth inning to stun the Braves and salvage the series finale. Garrett Cooper capped the uprising with a two-run double. Yuli Gurriel, Avisail Garcia and Jazz Chisholm Jr. produced run-scoring singles.
PITTSBURGH 6 – L.A. Dodgers 2… The Pirates cruised past the Dodgers after spotting them an early two-run lead. Jack Suwinski stroked a tie-breaking RBI single to cap a three-run bottom of the first inning. Connor Joe homered with a runner aboard and Rodolfo Castro followed with a solo shot in the sixth. Mitch Keller (3-0) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out 10 over six innings.
CHI. CUBS 5 – San Diego 2…Eric Hosmer and Nick Velázquez hit back-to-back solo homers in the bottom of the second inning to give the Cubs the lead for good in their defeat of the Padres. Dansby Swanson also went deep for Chicago. Hayden Wesneski (2-1) gave up a run on four hits over five innings.
St. Louis 6 – SAN FRANCISCO 0… Miles Mikolas (1-1) pitched four-hit ball over 6-1/3 innings and two Cardinals relievers completed the shutout of the Giants. Alec Burleson’s solo homer broke a scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning. Paul DeJong homered with a runner aboard in the eighth.
N.Y. METS 9 – Washington 8… Pete Alonso doubled home the tying run and scored the decisive run on Jeff McNeil’s triple in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Mets rallied past the Nationals after blowing a four-run lead in the top half. Francisco Lindor knocked in three runs with a pair of doubles.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
L.A. ANGELS 8 – Oakland 7… The Angels recovered to edge the Athletics after blowing a five-run lead. Brandon Drury belted a three-run homer. Shohei Ohtani had three hits, including an RBI double, and pitched the first six innings to run his record to 5-0.
Baltimore 7 – DETROIT 4… Anthony Santander’s two-run homer capped a five-run top of the seventh inning that carried the Orioles past the Tigers. Joey Ortiz stroked a two-run single and lifted a sacrifice fly for Baltimore.
Tampa Bay 14 – CHI. WHITE SOX 5… Isaac Paredes lined a bases-clearing double and finished with five RBIs in leading the Rays in their romp over the White Sox. Luke Raley had three hits, including a solo homer, and knocked in three runs. Brandon Lowe and Yandy Diaz also hit solo homers.
MINNESOTA 7 – Kansas City 1… Byron Buxton belted a three-run homer and Carlos Correa followed with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning to highlight the Twins’ thrashing of the Royals. Kansas City managed just three hits off Minnesota starter Tyler Mahle and three relievers.
N.Y. Yankees 4 – TEXAS 2… The Yankees got solo homers from DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres and Jose Trevino in powering their way past the Rangers. Gerrit Cole (5-0) allowed two runs on six hits over 6-2/3 innings.
INTERLEAGUE
PHILADELPHIA 1 – Seattle 0… Matt Strahm (2-2) pitched two-hit ball over 5-1/3 innings and four relievers did the rest as the Phillies clipped the Mariners. Kody Clemens singled home Nick Castellanos with the game’s only run in the bottom of the second inning.
