NHL FIRST-ROUND PLAYOFF SCORES…
New Jersey 3 – N.Y. RANGERS 1… Jonas Siegenthaler netted a tie-breaking goal in the third period and Ondrej Palat added an empty-netter as the Devils pulled past the Rangers to even the series at two games apiece. Siegenthaler also assisted on Jack Hughes’ first-period goal. The series returns to Newark for Game 5 on Thursday.
Toronto 5 – TAMPA BAY 4 (OT)… Auston Matthews scored two of the Maple Leafs’ three unanswered goals in the third period and Alexander Kerfoot found the net at 4:12 to complete the comeback as the Maple Leafs outlasted the Lightning to take a 3-1 lead in the series. Morgan Reilly netted a tying goal with 3:56 left in regulation. Noel Acciari also scored for Toronto, which hosts Game 5 on Thursday.
Vegas 4 – WINNIPEG 2… The Golden Knights doubled up on the Jets to take a 3-1 lead in the series. William Karlsson and Ivan Barbashev scored unanswered in the second period. Shea Theodore and Neal Pionk each had two assists. The series returns to Las Vegas for Thursday’s Game 5.
SEATTLE 3 – Colorado 2 (OT)… The Kraken recovered after blowing a two-goal second-period lead to outlast the Avalanche and tie the series at two games apiece. Jordan Eberle netted the winning goal 3 minutes into overtime. Will Borgen and Daniel Sprong scored first-period goals. The series returns to Denver for Game 5 tomorrow.
