Madeline Diveley

Madeline E. Diveley, 98 of Kirksville passed peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of William and Mary Jane (Erskine) Horton, she was born August 16, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa. On December 24, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa she was united in marriage to Vernon O. Diveley.

Madeline is survived by her children, Jerry Diveley of Unionville, MO, Chris Diveley of Clinton, IA, Mark Diveley of Unionville, MO and Linda Sands of Kirksville, MO; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Marcella Baker and two grandchildren, Zach Sands and Christina Diveley.

Madeline grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa where she attended high school. She worked as a nurse at St. Joe and Mercy Hospitals until she got married. Following her marriage, she enjoyed staying home and raising her four children.

She served on the board and helped organize trips for O.A.T.S. and did a lot of volunteer work. She had a passion for helping less fortune children and loved the Lord. She just loved helping people and showed a lot of love doing it. She was loved dearly by her family.

She’s made like heavens above; can’t nothing beat our mother’s love.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Her ashes will be buried at a later date in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa.
