MLB Scores Wednesday 4-19

NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Francisco 5 – MIAMI 2 (11 innings)… Michael Conforto and Mike Yastrzemski hit two-run homers in the top of the 11th inning to power the Giants past the Marlins. The win was San Francisco’s first in six games.

ST. LOUIS 14 – Arizona 5… Tommy Edman slugged a three-run homer and tripled home two runs to lead the Cardinals in their pounding of the Diamondbacks. Nolan Gorman came through with a pinch-hit grand slam.

N.Y. Mets 5 – L.A. DODGERS 3… The Mets topped the Dodgers despite the ejection of starting pitcher Max Scherzer after three innings following a substance check. Brandon Nimmo hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning. Mark Canha’s two-run double in the ninth proved to be the difference.

Pittsburgh 14 – COLORADO 3… The Pirates pounded out 18 hits in dismantling the Rockies to complete a three-game sweep. Rodolfo Castro singled home a run and blasted a three-run homer. Andrew McCutchen added an RBI double and a solo homer. Jose Oviedo (2-1) gave up a run on three hits over six innings.

SAN DIEGO 1 – Atlanta 0… Juan Soto’s homer in the bottom of the fourth inning provided the game’s only offense as the Padres clipped the Braves. Nick Martinez (1-1) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and three relievers completed the shutout.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Cleveland 3 – DETROIT 2… José Ramirez’s three-run homer broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning and the Guardians hung on to edge the Tigers.
Cal Quantrill (1-1) allowed just four hits over six scoreless innings.

Texas 12 – KANSAS CITY 3… The Rangers pounded the Royals to finish off a sweep of the series and run their winning streak to four games. Jonah Heim belted a three-run homer and Ezequiel Duran cleared the bases with a double. Marcus Semien had three hits and drove in two runs.

N.Y. YANKEES 3 – L.A. Angels 2… Gleyber Torres’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning scored Isiah Kiner-Falefa with the winning run in the Yankees’ win over the Angels. Aaron Judge homered with a runner aboard in the first.

Minnesota 10 – BOSTON 4… Trevor Larnach and Joey Gallo connected for three-run homers in the Twins’ thrashing of the Red Sox. Edouard Julien also went deep.

HOUSTON 8 – Toronto 1… Jake Meyers’ two-run double in the bottom of the second inning provided all the offense the Astros needed in their trouncing of the Blue Jays. Jeremy Peña’s three-run homer capped a six-run eighth. Luis Garcia (1-2) pitched two-hit ball over seven scoreless innings.

INTERLEAGUE
Tampa Bay 8 – CINCINNATI 0… Yandy Diaz’s leadoff homer sparked a six-run top of the first inning and the Rays breezed past the Reds. Drew Rasmussen (3-1) tossed three-hit ball over five innings and got help from two relievers in the shutout.

Philadelphia 5 – CHI. WHITE SOX 2… Trea Turner homered and doubled home a run as the Phillies topped the White Sox. Brandon Marsh also went deep. Taijuan Walker (2-1) allowed two runs on five hits over 6-1/3 innings.

Chi. Cubs 12 – OAKLAND 2… Patrick Wisdom legged out a two-run triple and scored on a wild pitch during a four-run top of the sixth inning that gave the Cubs the lead for good in their win over the Athletics. Eric Hosmer smacked a solo homer. Justin Steele (3-0) gave up a run on four hits over six innings.

Milwaukee 5 – SEATTLE 3… Brice Turang stroked a go-ahead two-run single and came around to score as the Brewers scored all five runs in the top of the seventh inning to bury the Mariners. Rowdy Tellez followed with a two-run single.

Baltimore 4 – WASHINGTON 0… Kyle Bradish (1-0) got help from four relievers as the Orioles made it two straight shutouts of the Nationals. Adam Frazier homered with a runner aboard.
