NBA FIRST-ROUND PLAYOFF OPENERS…
L.A. Lakers 128 – MEMPHIS 112… The Lakers rolled past the Grizzlies after trailing by six at the break. Rui Hachimura came off the bench to score 29 points. Austin Reeves added 23 points. Anthony Davis had 22 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James finished with 21 points and 11 boards. The series continues with Game 2 in Memphis on Wednesday.
Miami 130 – MILWAUKEE 117… The Heat built a 17-point lead at halftime and maintained it the rest of the way to shock a Bucks team that lost Giannis Antetokounmpo to injury in the first quarter. The win was costly for Miami, as Tyler Herro suffered a broken hand and is out for the rest of the postseason. Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 35 points and 11 assists. Bam Adebayo tossed in 22 points. The series remains in Milwaukee for Game 2 on Wednesday.
L.A. Clippers 115 – PHOENIX 110… The Clippers hung on down the stretch to top the Suns. Kawhi Leonard pumped in 38 points. Ivica Zubac grabbed 15 rebounds to go with his 12 points. The series stays in Phoenix for Game 2 tomorrow.
DENVER 109 – Minnesota 80… The Nuggets rode their defense to a postseason-opening blowout of the Timberwolves. All five starters scored in double figures, led by Jamal Murray’s 24 points. Michael Porter Jr. had 18 points and 11 boards. Nikola Jokic pulled down 14 rebounds to go with his 13 points. Denver hosts Game 2 on Wednesday.
