N.Y. METS 5 – San Diego 2… The Mets overcame a first-inning Juan Soto two-run homer to cruise past the Padres. Starter Tylor Megill overcame the blast to run his record to 3-0 with a strong five-inning performance. Pete Alonzo smacked a go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning after Francisco Lindor’s solo blast tied the game in the third.
St. Louis 7 – COLORADO 4… Nolan Gorman connected for a tie-breaking two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning and Nolan Arenado also homered with a runner aboard as the Cardinals rallied past the Rockies. Tyler O’Neill added a solo shot for St. Louis.
ARIZONA 7 – Milwaukee 3… Lourdes Gurriel Jr. belted a three-run homer and Corbin Carroll added a two-run shot to power the Diamondbacks past the Brewers. The win was Arizona’s fifth in six games.
Miami 3 – PHILADELPHIA 2 (10 innings)… Bryan De La Cruz’s second RBI single of the game scored Nick Fortes with a go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning and the Marlins hung on to outlast the Phillies. Jorge Soler’s solo homer in the eighth tied the game.
ATLANTA 5 – Cincinnati 4… Eddie Rosario hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Braves made it stand in downing the Reds. Ronald Acuña r. went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs.
L.A. Dodgers 10 – SAN FRANCISCO 5… The Dodgers overcame an early three-run deficit to double up on the Giants. Max Muncy homered twice and knocked in four runs. Trayce Thompson homered with a runner aboard.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
MINNESOTA 3 – Chi. White Sox 1… Willie Castro doubled home a run and scored on Michael A. Taylor’s single in the bottom of the eighth inning to provide the winning margin in the Twins’ defeat of the White Sox. Sonny Gray (2-0) pitched three-hit ball over five scoreless innings.
N.Y. Yankees 4 – CLEVELAND 3… The Yankees came from three runs down after four innings to scratch out a win over the Guardians. Oswaldo Cabrera singled home Gleyber Torres with the decisive run in the top of the ninth inning. Franchy Cordero’s solo homer tied the game in the fifth.
Oakland 8 – BALTIMORE 4… Brent Rookier cracked a three-run homer in the top of the first inning to give the Athletics the lead for good in their win over the Orioles. Carlos Perez homered and singled home a run for Oakland.
TAMPA BAY 9 – Boston 7… Randy Arozarena hit a three-run homer and lifted a sacrifice fly in leading the Rays past the Red Sox for their 12th straight win to start the season. Wander Franco had three hits, including a two-run double.
TORONTO 4 – Detroit 3 (10 innings)… George Springer singled home Danny Jansen with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Blue Jays a come-from-behind win over the Tigers. Whit Merrifield and Alejandro Kirk lifted sacrifice flies to tie the game in the ninth.
Kansas City 10 – TEXAS 1… The Royals rolled past the Rangers after spotting them an early run and salvaged the series finale. MJ Melendez doubled home two runs and singled in another. Vinnie Pasquantino homered. Michael Massey stroked a two-run single. Brad Keller (2-1) gave up a run on three hits over 6-2/3 innings.
INTERLEAGUE
Houston 7 – PITTSBURGH 0… Jose Urquidy (1-0) pitched two-hit ball over six innings and got help from three Astros relievers in shutting out the Pirates. Alex Bregman drilled a three-run homer and Corey Julks added a solo shot.
Seattle 5 – CHI. CUBS 2… Teoscar Hernández homered and singled home a run as the Mariners topped the Cubs. Jarred Kelenic also homered for Seattle. Logan Gilbert (1-1) surrendered a run on four hits over 6-2/3 innings.
L.A. ANGELS 3 – Washington 2… Logan O’Hoppe singled home Brandon Drury with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Angels hung on to edge the Nationals. Four L.A. relievers shut the door after starter Griffin Canning went the first five innings.
